I am looking at a USA Wolfgang Stealth. It has the Wolfgang pickups. What are they like? I really liked the bridge pickup on his Peavey model. Is the new pickup similar? On the EVH website, they don't list specs like magnet type?? Anyone know what they play like, how they feel? The Peavey model was kind of tight and clear. I liked it. They reminded me of a tone zone a little and I heard people say they were a copy of a tone zone?

thanks in advance!

I found them very mid focused which I did not like, the sound would hit you right in the chest as Ed would say, he was right. they are much better than the peavey models that's for sure. The best were the ebmm evh pickups for me. Loved those bad boys. The Frankenstein pickup is killer too.

I bought a beautiful and and incredible playing ivory Wolfgang USA with the ebony neck/block inlays not too long ago. I so wanted to live that guitar but I just didn't jive with the tone. I've had a bunch of peavey Wolfgangs and a bunch of EBMM's. The EVH just sounded too hifi or something to me. Nothing like my Axis or peaveys I owned. I sold the guitar

I recently picked up a Wolfgang special. I liked it so much, I bought 2 USAs, another special, and a custom standard. The pickups are excellent to my ears. I’ve read they are A2 magnets, but I’ve not bothered looking too much into them. No experience with the Peavey versions, but they certainly have more mids and less bass and top end than my Liquifire and CrunchLab in my JP6.

As far as I know, there are basically three Wolfgang pickups. One is just the bridge and it's the best one. The other two are a bridge and neck and they are very good pickups. I'm surprised to hear negativity about them because they are great pickups. Mid-focused? Might as well scratch out all Dimarzios and Bareknuckle pickups then. There's not anything to reasonably criticize. If they're not for you then they're not for you. Don't worry about it because they are good pickups, and you can sell or trade them all day long if you don't gel with them for whatever reason.
