I'm interested in an alternate od to add a bit of grease to my tone. I'm using a SLO mostly on the rhythm channel with the gain maxed out and boosted with an Xotic EP Booster. I use the OD channel mainly as a solo channel. I get some really nice dynamics and crunch going with this sound, but I want to add some dirt on top of it. I don't care for my TS9 or my OCD with the SLO. They don't match well with it, imho. You guys who have tried or used Mosfet based ODs, what are the pros/cons? What do you like/dislike about them.

I think this new MXR Il Torino OD sounds pretty dang good.

The MXR Bonamass FET driver sounds pretty damn good in the demos I've seen.

I think FET boosts would be tighter, cleaner sounding overdrives.

I love the Fulldrive II Mosfet. I've used it for years through many amps and it ALWAYS sounds good.

It's a polished tone for sure, but I think that's why is sounds good through just about any amp.

Cool. Thanks for the replies! I've been trying to research as much as possible, and it seems the MOSFET route is the direction I may be headed in. I'm just looking to add some grease on top of my rhythm tone for certain songs my band does. If I were playing rhythm on the OD channel of the SLO, I wouldn't need any dirt on top of it. It wouldn't hurt it be any means because there's plenty of dirt on the OD channel for my tastes. But on some tunes, I need just a bit more than I'm getting on the Crunch channel. I gotta sing the praises of the Xotic EP Booster, too. That little pedal has got magic dust sprinkled on it.

I'm digging the youtube clips I'm hearing of the Bonamassa, but the Il Torina seems to have more tonal options.

Love my MOSFET Fulldrive 2. Really versatile pedal. Boost is not really a volume boost more like a gain boost, but it's a great sounding pedal.
