Tell me about the Bogner Shiva FX Loop?

I hear it's a bit weird. I plan on using it 99.9% of the time. Would this be a problem?

FWIW, I'm talking about the green chassis Shiva with the two sends.
 
The green chassis models are fine. I use delay, reverb and an EQ for a solo boost without a problem with mine. The silver chassis model that I had was finicky with certain pedals. I always used rack gear and a switching system with the silver chassis model that I owned. They're both great amps btw.
 
Works great in the 20 anniversary but definitely adds some gain.
 
Best FX loop I've ever used. Yeah, it's a slight PITA, but it's a great sounding loop.
 
glad I saw this... so remind me how fx loop works... I have bene reading the Shiva 20th loop sucks and is transparent......

I read "Your individual channel volume levels control how hot the effects loop send signal is, depending on the effect unit you may have to keep the channel volumes lower but you can then turn up the "Global Master Volume" to control your amps overall volume. "

I'm confused to if I am using the Dirty 2nd channel that volume is the FX level if I am using delay>?
 
I had a 20th Shiva and I think it was labeled backwards. I used the rack loop with pedals and it work better then the pedal loop with pedals.
 
I have an older Shiva. The loop was too hot for the pedals I had (mostly TC electronic). I ordered the level ducking cable from Bogner. It does the job fine, no more issues with the loop.

i had an older shiva, you need a special cable for pedals or racks (other than rocktron).
 
Like what has been said, the silver chassis Shiva loop was sorta like the SLO loop. Very hot. Some stuff can take it, but YMMV. The green chassis model is much better, but pretty much every Bogner loop pre-Helios adds a tiny bit of gain and compression. It is just the way it is, and setting the channel masters is very important to how the whole thing sounds. My XTC sounds like a fire breather with the loop disengaged, and just a bit more "polite" with it on. It is noticeable in the transients, and once you hear it you can't really un-hear it. It isn't a bad loop (nor is the Shiva's), but it isn't up to the level of say the Helios or ATMA or any of the Friedman stuff using the Metro loop.

Like I said, I used the 20th Shiva rack loop with my pedals and it was fine.
