I have the 2005 Reissue on its way. I searched everywhere I could online for info and was hoping to get some more. I figured Charvel and Rig-Talk go hand and hand.

What I have heard is that these were limited and not in catalogs, only fliers to dealers so there is no info there and that these are in between USA production quality and Custom Shop.

Some have said they are made in the same place, with the same materials and by the same people as the custom shop.

Mine is the single Hum/Ebony board. Has 22 frets and a Duncan Custom which I believe is stock and a Floyd.

Is there anything else you guys know about these or anything I posted that is incorrect?

Edit: Has the 6xxx serial number.

I have 2 of them. love them to death. I believe what you said is true. There were some pointys with traditional trems which can make tuning difficult due to the pointy headstock, but both of mine (and yours) have floyds - problem solved. Congrats, you'll love it.

 Thanks for the reply.

By traditional trem do you mean hardtail?

They're great guitars, and yeah, as I recall there was no catalogue as such, they were just in a single fold flyer.

Traditional trem would be the typical strat type 6 screw fulcrum.

If a Jackson or Charvel has a 6 figure serial number, it's a production guitar (customs have 4 digits). At that point, the production guitars (these and Jackson USA Select) were made in batches, nominally by the same people who made the CS guitars, but I'm sure Shannon etc had less involvement in these than one off customs.

There was a fairly common issue with the headstock clearcoat delaminating on these (and bolt on/oiled neck Jacksons too) but that's the only problem area I recall.

I remember my local GC had one about 8 years ago. It was the copperhead finish. It was fucking awesome!! I'd like to track one down.

Well I will get mine monday. Will need a few days with it to decide but if the neck is not for me it will be up for sale   I have a feeling I am going to like this one though.

I did see that issue discussed as well with the Clear Coat, I was advised by seller that is not an issue on this guitar.

They are awesome. I had a single hum pointy with an ebony board that I stupidly sold. I’d love to find another. My only issue is that those pointy necks are on the thin side.

Any chance you are familiar with the current (last decade) ESP Thin U neck? If so how would you compare the thickness? Couldn't find any dimensions of the Charvel anywhere.

The Charvel/Jackson neck is way thinner. I have a Vintage + strat relic from ESP and 2 pointy Jacksons, there is no comparison, the Jackson/Charvel neck is way thinner and faster.

This is getting interesting for me.

I started with mid tier Jackson guitars and moved to Ibanez. I fell in love with the Wizard neck, I do like fast and thin but then I got an ESP and wow. It was thicker than the Wizard but felt so good to me.

The problem I have with that ESP is the TOM bridge. That is why I was looking for another Floyd or something with a Hipshot. I can play slightly faster on those vs a TOM.

Anyway while I like both my ESP and the Wizard I feel something in the middle of the road or slightly thinner than the ESP will be perfect for me. Maybe this Charvel will be it.

I owned a late 2004 and early 2005 (6300-6500 serial range). Fender brought back the original Charvel CS in 2002 to do limited runs (e.g., the bulls eye graphic) in the 6000 range. In 2004 the shop did a big run for several years, until the USA pro mod series came out. Then this shop became the CS. So, the pointy “reissue” guitars are effectively custom shop and are great players. Far superior then any of the subsequent pro mod incarnations.

Don't get me wrong, the ESP neck is nice, but those pointy Jackson or Charvel necks are my favorite ever, more than the strat heads.

I would say this is fairly accurate to my understanding. These pointy guitars are totally under the radar. You will love this guitar no doubt. It may start an addiction.....

Man, I'm rather jealous here... I do love the pointy-head Charvel necks, and I'm an all-out sucker for 1HB guitars...

Congrats!! If you like the ESP and the Wizard, I think you'll feel right at home.

Pics, please... :)

Here are the pics I was sent. It should be here Monday and I can't wait.

Everything I am hearing and finding about this guitar makes me think it will be perfect for me. When I was looking I had never intended to get a solid color guitar. Lately I have really been into bursts and flamed tops so I would have never set out to look for this guitar but I got a PM when I posted a WTB ad so it just kind of fell into my lap.

 Will post back after I get my hands on it.

These were pretty cool. They were a sort of semi-custom order where you chose Floyd or six-screw, pickup configuration (H, HSS, HH), fretboard wood and between maybe four or five finishes. White, black, blue, snakeskin and maybe something more too. I think most of them ended up being made in small batches made for dealers/importers rather than as one-off orders. They weren´t limited as such, but there weren´t tons made before they axed the line and rolled out the Pro Mods a while later. These are from the same time as the Charvel EVH series and the EVH Art stuff.

Jesus Christ ! Thanks for that ! Wow ! The Rosetta Stone right there !

Is there a table like this for Jackson’s too ?

This place rocks ! I love you fuckers !!!
