Are these basswood bodies like the EVHs ?

The two I owned were alder. These guitars preceded the EVH run.

Here's a pretty good table summarizing each guitar by serial number.

http://weber.de1.cc/charvel/

Starting to scare me now.

So now that I see my serial is not on this list it shows me either that this list is just not complete and I am ok or that maybe mine was a production model?

I’d bet the table isn’t complete... I wouldn’t worry.

:) yeah I get paranoid easy.

Is this from Weber the speaker company or something else?

Would be curious to talk to them and possibly give them the info to add this one if they wanted.

Jealous. My old pointy charvel is the business. I had no idea they had done a reissue.

The site isn't exhaustive--it is basically crowd sourced. Here's a link to the guy/thread that maintains it.

Wanna sell that ? I’ve been Jonesing for a reverse headstock for a long while ! :)

Nah. Appreciate the offer, but it’s the one guitar I can’t sell. Bought it new in ‘89, and it’s been my number one forever. I just bought a friction collar conversion for the trem cause it still has the old jt6 jackson Floyd with the pop in bar lol. Look up charvel 3dr on reverb etc...they pop up from time to time.

Is that USA with the white logo ? Is that a Fort Worth plate or San Dimas ?

Mines the Fort Worth plate, a Japanese model.

Here are the pics I was sent. It should be here Monday and I can't wait.
I am literally drooling... that is gonna be a killer!! I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think of it... gonna be a long weekend.

To my surprise it showed up today. Awesome guitar and I love it.

Haven't had a chance to plug it in yet but acoustically it sounds great and the neck works for me very well.

Very good quality. The inlays look marvelous, killer headstock, perfect weight and everything else. Dying to try it with my amps.

That's awesome! Glad you like the neck, too. I've always loved Charvel necks, not too thick, not too thin, fast. It's gonna slay through your JP2C! Such a magnificent guitar!

This is for the imports, yours is a very low US original number. Very nice.

First letter of the serial number is the country:
I - Indonesia
C - China
N - India (because the I is already taken)

Second letter of the serial number is the company
W - World Music Instruments
C - Cort
S - Samick
H - Harmony
Some China serial numbers have a "J" as second letter, but I have no idea which company that is

Third letter is the brand
J - Jackson
C - Charvel
E - EVH

It is a USA reissue from 2005, not an original from the mid 80s. Those original USA Charvel serial numbers stopped in the 5XXX when Jackson started making the Charvels in Japan with the model series. The USA Charvels did continue for all practical purposes though, they just said Jackson instead. Same guitar as the Charvels up until 88 when the Dinky bodies started appearing.

Everything I am hearing and finding about this guitar makes me think it will be perfect for me. When I was looking I had never intended to get a solid color guitar. Lately I have really been into bursts and flamed tops so I would have never set out to look for this guitar but I got a PM when I posted a WTB ad so it just kind of fell into my lap.

 Will post back after I get my hands on it.
Thats an awesome guitar !! I had an early Charvel with the single Hum with the black/Orange Crackle finishe,Floyd rose and nice Maple board neck..I had no idea what you are getting had been made for any length of time...I will keep my eyes open now. Nice Nice guitar you have coming !

Well worth it IMO, this thing plays so good. I get to plug into my stack tonight for the first time and cannot wait.

I have never played a Custom Shop so I cannot directly compare but man this plays so good and sounds great so far. Definitely up there in quality with my ESP Standard and I think it surpasses that slightly in both quality and sound.

The only negative is pretty much personal preferences. I have not had or have wanted a single color guitar in quite sometime. It does not bother me and the fact that is plays so good makes me not care but I usually prefer quilts or flames.

Got to play it through my JP2C and an OS Mesa cab. Sounds killer. I used the Buxom Boost as well. Sounds great with plenty of bite and roar.

I still have to try it with my Uber and other cabs/boost pedals but I'm very happy with the guitar.

Thanks for all the info guys.

That's freakin' awesome! Such a killer guitar... something about an all black, 1HB guitar that just makes it look like a weapon of destruction. Really glad you're enjoying it!!
