Just like the title says, what’s the story on these? There is a clip on YouTube with it compared to a
G12-65 and both sound great, but the BM75-LD had something to it I really liked. Do these hold up well with fast riffing and lots of gain? Do the hold together tuned to D and drop C?

Let me just say I can't speak to anything in your post except Jim is legit af and I'm sure his speakers are the same.

I had one a while back but didn't really use it for low tuning. Pretty rolled off highs, so only worked for me with really bright gtr/amp combos.

The BM-75LD sounds like a more harmonically rich G12-65.

Well...that's not totally fair, there are some examples of the G12-65 that are gorgeous, they were just not consistent as Celestion seemed to use that model as a catch all.

I had M75-LD’s and H75-LD’s, 65watts in an X pattern in a Marshall 4x12. I bought the LD’s on Jim’s recommendation for really heavy, high gain tone, and they handled it in spades. The louder the amp, the better they got. They remained tight, yet very thick sounding. Killer speakers. Being LD, they were very dark sounding. Nothing that couldn’t be compensated for with more treble/presence though.

Thanks for the input. Did these need to be pushed a bit to give up the goods? I've heard that's how the G12-65 is.

I haven’t tried Jim’s speakers but damn do they sound great in the clips on YouTube, is he offering a 65 alternative? I’d love to buy and try.

No, they still sounded great at lower volumes, but they definitely loved to be pushed, and got better.
