Had the Uberschall(2nd version I think) half stack. Thickest, meanest amp I've ever played through! Just wan't my favorite amps for lead playing. But for modern metal it's one fine amp to say the least.

Did you sell your 5153 yet? What amp are you getting now?

I would go with the Diezel Herbert. It is hands down the best high gain amp I have tried.

Uber is the beast!
Herbert is the best!
XTC is the true versatility!

The only way you can know if you play them yourself. At one point I almost sold my Uber, but then I knew I would want one later again, so I kept it & I'm happy I did.

The truth is that I could be 100% happy with one Herbert & 99% happy with 1 XTC, but all these amps have their own feel & vibe. If you like to compose music you will come up with totally different thing playing each one of them.

The true nature of Uber comes out with low presence control IMO. That's the tone that I was never able to dial with any other amp & real pain in the butt to record.

I've only had limited exposure to the Uberschall, probably an hour total of playing time, I liked the Uberschall a lot, but it doesn't do anything the Herbert(which I've owned four 3 years) can't do. The Uberschall is fairly limited, unless you really prefer the voicing of the Uberschall over the Herbert. The Herbert is much more versatile, but you pay for the versatility.

Hmm, I don't think the Herbert can cop the Uber vibe at all. These amps are very different. Yeah, they both are very modern and can get very nasty, but the feel is completely different and the Uber is quite a bit more open. You can't make up for these differences with a few knob twists. I kept the Uber over my Herbert because of what it did that I could never get the Herbert to do. Don't get me wrong as I'm not trying to bust on the Herbert, I think it's a great amp. Just wanted to throw that in there.

Come play my Herbert....you'll figure it out :D

It's seriously right up your alley.

No and to be honest I'm kinda on the fence about parting with it.

I own a rev blue uber and engl blackmore

I've only had 1 rehearsal with the uber, in a band mix the blackmore seems to cut much better than my uber.
The uber would be amazing recorded tho imo
I'm still in the experimental phase with it

However, if you're not playing in a band... the uber is the best amp i've played when playing alone

I'll keep tweaking and post how i go but at this stage, i think i'll be keeping the blackmore over the uber for my live rig at this stage

good point. but some of us can't even tell the difference. is it really 5g worth of difference? like, does it makes this ungodly beautiful sound never heard before? i ain't tryin' to diss the amp...just the price. one thing that always killed me was the resale value of the deizels. i mean, dude's are payin 5 large and only gettin' half that used...what's up with that?

For those who cant tell, hear or feel the difference in tone of an amp.....save some money and buy a cheap amp.

Used gear prices are only worth what the person buying used gear is willing to pay. There are no rules for how much a used amp is worth. If the person who is selling is worried about resale value then they should have bought a used amp instead of a new one to begin with. Let the person who drove it home take the hit.

I've own and/or played all the revisions of ubers made. I initially always dig the massive, pissed sounding, aggressive, throaty tone. But after awhile what starts to bug me is how open it sounds/feels. What would be like the uber but not be so 'open'? I'm thinking a Dorado. I've been wanting a Dorado for along time for that reason and am curious if anyone thinks it would be kinda uberish but not as open.

ive owned 3 ubers over the years and all of them were cool, i played a bunch of shows with my 1st uber in a 2 guitar band and it sounded awsome, i never had any probs being heard or cutting, the other guy used a dsl 100.
