Great pickup...but a bit too bright for an Alder guitar IMO
Id get a 500K. I wouldnt say the JB is "way more" compressed sounding but I d agree that the aldrich is more open sounding.Schaf":1dbss7q8 said:I think the JB is way more compressed than the Aldrich. Although, I have the stock 300K pot in my Les Paul. I'm getting ready to replace that with a 500K based on most peoples opinion that it responds better to the 500K. I've only used the Aldrich in my Les Paul. I have JB's and Duncan Distortion in my other guitars. Those are fine pickups, too.

Thats what I found. Good leads, but not great on rhythm.droptrd":1dg2313e said:The EVO has great mids but the couple ive owned were the narrowest boxiest sounding pups ive ever heard. They drive well for leads but way too narrow and compressed sounding for rhythms. They are not simular at all if thats what youre asking. The aldrich has that big boutique sound

Hmm, I've found the JB to be a very 'airy' sounding pickup. I would attribute that to the 300k pot and not the pickup itself.
