Huge Racks was talking this up alot, cool to see one in a user's hands.

So Tyler built 100% or some outsourcing?
Not sure...I think they're Tyler designed and have the Korean build one and the US build one. This prototype is all Jim's work.

Hey guys, Rich Renken here. I work for Line 6 and am a key guy in the development of the new guitar. Ed is a good friend and one of my beta testers. Also, an all around bad ass guy. :) I am here for questions. I will not offer my opinions and I will not spam your forums. Not my style.

Wanted to jump in and let you know that the JTV-59US that Ed has was not made by Jim, it was made using our USA process as follows.

Wildwood up north made the body and neck. We have a cat in Norco, CA that paints them and they are put together by Tim Wilson who managed the Jackson Custom shop for 17 years.

Line 6 dude with a TDK cassette for an avatar, now that is funny.

Welcome and please tell us of upgoing products as this board does not mind spam threads from venders!

You have a good guy in Tim putting them together, lots of history in that guy.

Rich, are there any plans to update the acoustic? As neat as the electrics are, the acoustic is more valuable to me in terms of how it fits into my setup. However the original seemed to struggle with the tunings and 12-string, presumably due to the lack of power the new ones have.

are variax electronics available to consumers ?
I was talking to Nate at Rico guitars yesterday and we got to talking about some custom builds I found , He was also curious where one might be able to get the parts without taking them out of a already built guitar.

Not in the near future. It is a bit of a logistics nightmare.

I played the Line 6 variax 700. Are these the same tones in the Tyler Variax? I loved the Gretsch, Rick and Gibson tones but not so much with the Tele and Strat models. I could hear the tone of the piezo coming through on the Tele models. The Strat tones were too dark for my taste. Other than that I thought it rocked.

They are the same models but we 4 times the DSP now and this allowed us to do the following.
-Run fuller and clearer guitar bodies and pickups.
-Allow all models to be alternate tuned.
-Improve alternate tuning purity and speed.
-Provide alternate tuning customization.
-Allow new modes of operation and editing.

On top of that we were able to go in and "massage" individual pickups.

Also, the piezo sound you are talking about sounds like you were hearing the "clang tone". We worked with L.R. Baggs on a brand new piezo to, for all intents and purposes, eliminate it.

I do miss tape. :)

Thank you for welcoming me. I won't SPAM. If you guys have questions, I will answer. If there are false facts that come up I will point that out, but I will not get on anyone just because they don't like something or is they have a different opinion than me.

Tim is a great guy!!! He has been the perfect partner to bring Tyler's vision to these guitars.

I cannot talk about future plans but I can tell you that we want to become a dominate player in guitardom so I would guess that would mean a lot of things. Keep an eye open on the future.

Hey Rich! I was part of the epic M13 threads on TGP, good to see you here. Quick question - what's estimated retail and timeframe on these? Thanks!

Pete

Will there be a model with a floating trem? That's the only thing here I'm not seeing that would make me a very happy panda... I was always curious about the folks who'd add the Variax electronics to high-end guitars. And what are the bridge and neck hums?

This sounds great .... and the A/B ~ Strat, Tele thing. Ed's ears are among the few I trust. He calls it as he sees it in my experince.
A little spam well not hurt us people that do not know what questions to ask.
.... and welcome to the forum.

  What?

I just mean I like the line, liked the acoustic the most, and think it'd be cool to have the upgraded electronics in an acoustic, that's all.

If you're not kidding, then.......

Settle down, Francis. :D

Hi Rich,

The guitar looks great! My question for you:

Any plans for a left-handed run? Or custom option? I know in the past you've done some lefty Variax guitars, it would be great if one of these was available lefty as well!

Thanks,
Orren

Koreans are 1099 to 1299 and USAs are 3699 to 4299. Late summerish time frame.

Not right away, it is so hard, but in becoming a dominate force in guitars, it will have to have to happen one can hope. :)

The JTV-69 has a killer floating trem designed by James Tyler. The pickups are all wound to James' specs, they are awesome.
