Testing soldered patch cables - Link

did you strip away the black conductive shield layer, that's under the braided copper shield, but outside of the inner plastic stuff?

This is BIG.

I didn't know why the cable sounded so weak, then I found out about this.
 
My canare cables sounded like dull-dogsh*t until I figured this out.
 
Yeah, I did. I stripped it like on the photo below (only a bit shorte). I didn't know that inner black stuff was conductive until Casey mentioned it. The first patch cable I made with the Planet Waves cable was not done right. These new ones are.

I put most of the first board together yesterday. I do need to do a tweak here and there, but it's 95% finished. I should have pics soon. Oh! And I need to play through it too. I'm doing that tonight.
