R-T is much slower these days, it was at the bottom of the first page, until a minute ago.

LOL! No wonder I didn't see it.

All the arguments are about everything NOT related to the root cause of the problem:
Oh this new technology is out to rip us off....
What happened to the good old days when royalties were honored...
I buy all my music on LPS...I never stream or download...

You'd think that with an older clientele they would have a few more well-thought out posts that try to address the problem and maybe propose some solutions (possible amendments to copyright/royalty legislation, amending the technology, etc) or at least have some nifty critiques.

and I'm so sick of "well I haven read any of the previous posts (which shows that i don't GAF about anybody elses opinions), but here's my opinion please read it".

What a bunch of has-beens/never-weres spending too much of the twilight of their lives arguing like old women.

I get where you're coming from, but I actually sympathize with the OP, he's spent his life creating original music.

I don't have a problem with Pandora, et al., but the torrent sites where people are downloading content for free, troubles me as a musician.

Yes, times change, but I've never understood musicians ripping off other musicians, or fans taking money out of the pocket of their favorite artists.

It's a personal decision, and I'm not going to judge or preach, but it's not something I would personally do.

I agree with you and I too sympathize with the OP.
My point was that they are angry at the wrong people. Pandora isn't the problem. The real problem is the system that decides how royalties are tracked and reimbursed which is the issue and they totally don't get it.
It just seems that there is are lot of emotional and anecdotal posts and very little discussion of the actual mechanism that is leading to this situation; which I found to be a common thread in a lot of TGp convos.

There was a very good post early on that asked for context and clarification so that the systemic problem could be unraveled, however, the OP ignored it... too bad

Yeah, here and MyLesPaul are probably the best. MLP is owned by the same guy as SSO but he doesn't have people with room temp IQ running MLP so its far better.

I dont even own a Les Paul, and I actually HATE tune-o-matic bridges but i still post on MLP a lot because they are cool guys :D

I love MLP but I've never joined. It's such a huge database for all things Gibson (repairs, dating, etc.)

Oh I posted something I thought was funny and you (and others) thought I was being serious
I then said you had no sense of humour, which I now know (by reading some of your posts since then) is not the case, so I apologize for that.

You must be mistaking me for someone else. Humor is highly overrated.

especially from a long gray haired woodworking guitar player!

Luckily it's the only forum where that happens :scared:
