I read a thread there not too long ago about people complaining that TGP was blocked at their work places, but other, similar sites were not. Apparently there was a big "bikini" thread or something where people had linked to pics from a site that also may have hosted porn stuff as well. Because of that, TGP became "tagged" as an adult site by whatever mechanism might cause private networks to block certain sites. I don't know anything about that type of network stuff, so my explanation might be oversimplified or just fucking wrong. I think TGP has decided to disallow those types of threads in hopes of having this "tag" removed.
