IMHO mainstream music has never been as homogenised, wishy-washy and lacking good melodies as it is today; there can be no question.
If I'm wrong after following it for over 40 years I might as well give up right now, and I suspect I'm not the only one who feels that temptation creep in now and again after hearing the complete and utter shit that passes for art worthy of the consumer dollar these days.
The bar has never been set so-low, and yet I'm guessing that real class would likely be judged by the masses to be well below it. Talk about irony - that's the ultimate irony of today's musical mindset if you ask me.
