I started about 1970-71-ish and it was mostly trying to play Zep, Sabbath, Deep Purple.
In a really short span around 74-75? these 3 albums came out and turned everything inside out.
Trower, Schenker, and Uncle Ted almost all at once.
And we had to learn licks off the damn vinyl album back then! Love Ted's playing. Wish he'd shut up more.
This is Ted just being himself for the most part. Damn, I miss Tony.

As a kid in the '70s, I saw live: Robin Trower, Kiss, Aerosmith, Yes, ELP, Rush, ZZ Top, Ramones, Dead Boys, Boston, Black Sabbath (Never Say Die tour, '78, with a new band named Van Halen opening), Rossington-Collins Band, Blue Oyster Cult, Kansas, Styx, Grateful Dead, Cheap Trick, Pure Prairie League with Ozark Mountain Daredevils and Jonathan Edwards, Three Dog Night, Blackfoot, Outlaws, Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band, J. Geils, Twisted Sister (still doing covers), ...

He was the headliner of my first concert. It was the tour they recorded Double Live Gonzo. My musical tastes (among other things) were changing fast at that time. I was all-in on Stranglehold but he kind of jumped the shark for me at Cat Scratch Fever.
I remember the liner notes for the Stranglehold album called him a "legit heavy metal guitarist". A term I had heard but not heard that much at the time.

Couldn't agree more. So many 70s acts around that time Jumped too.
ZZ Top with onstage cows and Styx's Mr. Roboto being two examples of WTF at the time.

My first concert I was 9, Alice Cooper's Welcome To My Nightmare in 1975, 2nd was Petter Frampton in 1975, Rush in 1976's 2112 tour in Hollywood and Fresno, California.
Most of today's bands are live Train Wrecks on stage, I took my nephews to a Green Day, Korn, SOAD and Blink 182 .... I figured how simple the music was that they could put it off .... they suck live on stage .

Back in the 1980's, I met young " Band Aids ", in their early 20's and they told me that " Terrible Ted ", didn't mind that they were so young and still smelled like pee.
Ask Courtney Love, she blew Ted's buggle at 12 .

I stumbled on a performance of Stranglehold from the Detroit stop of his last summer tour. Say what you want about him, politically or otherwise, but hes still got it. His voice sounded awesome and his playing was sharp. Gotta hand it to the old geezer. It helps that stranglehold is a really fucking cool song.

All the best Ted Nugent songs are with Derek St. Holmes on vocals. Its a shame that they couldn't figure it out more.
