We're working with ex-12 Stones/Breaking Point guitarist and now producer Justin Rimer at Crosstrax Studio in Memphis,TN on a new Allyria record.
He took the time and care to find the tone that i described to him in my head. I said listen to Siamese Dream from Smashing Pumpkins and think heavy and modern.
After a week of him listening to SD we sat down and tweaked my Diezel Herbert on channel 2 with the gain really low and blended it with a MXR Sub Machine fuzz into an Orange Rocker 30.
This quick clip has 0 EQ and no drum treatment etc. Straight off of the board. The sound that has been in my head since i was 12(I'm 31 now) is mine. :D
Amp was mic'd with a SM57,421 and a beyerdynamic 201.
I can't wait to hear the mix/master.

That clip you posted sounds fantastic man!
Nice and thick but still holding the crunch factor.
Take a black felt marker......
mark all your settings on all the gear. And dont tweak any more! (easy to say hard to do)

Oh we already moved it around a bit for some of the heavier material but i still know relatively what to set things to. It all depends on the song anyways.
The combo of the sub machine/orange and herbert have killed for everything we're doing so far. :D

I was skeptical headed into these links, but <wow> great tone!

Love the clips! It does capture the pumpkins vibe but adds a little more dimension.

This is exactly what i was going for. It's why i 100% trust our new producer. He spent the time to sit and analyze the tone i was after. When i got to the studio to lay down the real tracks he said he had listened to siamese dream for a week just for me haha. Great guy and so easy to work with. We did an amp shootout against the Diamond Hammersmith and Orange then we decided that the Orange would sit in well with the clarity of Herbert once i slammed it with that fuzz pedal.
Best investment in a long time:

Almost forgot. The Eden World Tour bass DI is amazing direct into some nice expensive preamps. (Avalon 737 and Manley Core)

-the ORANGE Rocker 30 isn't your father's ORANGE, it's based on the MARSHALL JMP platform, no fizzy, fuzzy, mush,.... Just dripping awesome sauce,.. -(maybe you should of used "one of your father's ORANGE's" if you wanted the "fuzzy" tone..

Nothing like a fuzz into a JMP.

I just use brightly colored electrical tape and cut it into thin strips and mark it that way. It sticks, but you can still remove it when it's time to sell.

That was hella thick... sounded really good and very pro. Question for you, is that two passes panned slightly or are we hearing only one guitar track/pass.

a lot of that heavy guitar tone comes from the bass in fact :) its a very good blend

You're hearing 1 track of herbert and 1 track of sub machine/orange on each side. Both triple mic'd.

Killer tone. Congrats on finding your sound.

Thanks! It took a looooooong time but i'm definitely content with these rough tracks. Can't wait to hear the finished product.

Buy a Kemper and profile your tone! Oh, and share! Haha!
