Ok,

So i go in my basement and see a knob laying on the cement floor. It came from my hotplate (nobody will fess up to it in the family) . I pick up the hotplate and it sounds like a cracker jack box as there is ceramic falling out of it. I guess this unit is garbage now?

Shit, 400$.

Can it be repaired or is it fucked. :scared:

Any suggestions on a new hotplate? damn

The resistors they use in those units are only around $20-30 each, if I am not mistaken. Buy one with the corresponding ohm rating and install it.

Maybe i can send it to THD and they can repair it?

I would do that. The repairs may or may not be difficult to do, but since the unit malfunctioning during use can cause problems ( I would think the hotplate malfunctioning during use would cause the impedance/ load problems with the output transformers in the amp) with the amp that may damage it, I would send it to them just to make sure it gets fixed 100% correctly and they can verify everything else is in working order.

Exactly my thinking as well......not sure i trust my soldering and who knows what else shook loose.

Let us know how it turns out! I have a hotplate that was dropped as well, and I'd love to get it fixed.

me 3
old amp stand collapsed tonight during setup-
caught the amp but hotplate took a digger. snapped my monster speaker cable plug and now hotplate won't pass signal.

Maybe u can do a switch, order one new an switch unit or just the guts, then send back for refund .

good news-
i unscrewed the lid and inspected the guts and didn't see anything out of sorts except for a small dead moth?!?! :D --cleaned it out and fired it up...BINGO! tone aplenty.

...man my peacemaker sounds good....

The dead moth is a custom order .... rare...
lol was so random.
:) I'm sure it is some kind of sympathetic magic THD is using.

Mine got knocked off the top of a full stack by a over zealous singer and hit the wall on the way down. The speaker chord was bent 90*..... works fine. That was in 2004...
