That does sound pretty good. I think it's missing some of the bite of old JTM45, but it still sounds good.

However, I get the feeling the guy playing it could make anything sound good.

Yep, I've been battling with the same thing :lol: :LOL: Axe is calling my name big time. I'm getting robbed out of almost any practice at all because of volume restrictions so it might be the only way for me to get some play time in :cry:

Motorpud,

If volume restrictions are an issue, try one of the modded Marshalls from Friedman, Cameron, etc. I practice at 5am most mornings with 3 people sleeping and never wake anyone up. I practice with a 100 watt head and a 4x12 on the same floor as the bedrooms. When I got my first Friedman modded Marshall I was blown away by how good it sounded at near whisper volumes. The amps keep decent tone to a very low volume level.

Ya, it kinda has ya by the balls for this one thing alone, don't it? As mentioned, it's a toybox to me, but a damn fine toybox - I've left space for it. My take on it, I'll wait for another version/iteration of it to hit the market and see prices slump a bit. If I can get one new (Ultra) for $1200, I'm in.

They only sound like shit if the user is too stupid to dial it in right or their ears are fucked up or something. However, since it is possible to dial in any tone ever and better than that, I suppose it is possible to dial in a tone that sounds like shit, and better or worse depending on what the user is after.
