and not once has the designer of the HD500 ever told someone to sell one of their own products.

Yeah I don't understand the attitude of some of the users and as a maker of a product I'd never talk to my customers like I've seen some talked to with the Axe.

Yeah, this is one of the things I'm contemplating right now. If I knew for a fact there was a good guy behind it that wouldn't be a dick if I needed help then I would've already bought one. I've seen a couple comments that seem to prove otherwise (The smart ass comments to users seeking help etc.) so that really has me on the fence more than anything. If I need some sort of customer service and have to deal with the guy I don't want to be berated or talked down to like I've seen happen to others.

i just dont understand how someone could troll their own products and no one buy them with this in thought. that spells douchebag forwards and backwards in my eyes. im glad you're taking that into affect though Nate. but if you need at home jamming, why not get your favorite preamp, an effects processor, a cab simulator like the palmer, and be done?

you get your tube preamp tones, your digital effects, and the cab simulator can be turned on/off. another option is running a cab impulse like Ola does with post recording EQ in a DAW.

i wouldnt put all of my eggs in a single basket so to speak like the axe either. there are other options to get the same results and still get something that slays :)

Yeah, customer service is a big deal to me and if I think I'm gonna to be told to get screwed I'll buy something else. As for the why? 2 reasons, versatility and size  If I do decide on picking one up I'm going to stick it on the keyboard shelf of my desk, run it up to my monitors and be done with it.

I've never read anyone say they had been told to get screwed from their customer service. On the forums though.... things get real touchy from some users and Cliff when someone starts saying they couldn't get it to sound like a tube amp. If you call them on the phone get talked that way then yeah I'd never buy one but I wouldn't let the forum BS weigh as much in my mind. YMMV.

Oh I'm not really worried about it, but it does fit in the equation for me. BTW I wasn't saying he told anyone to get screwed literally, more like in a round about way. I don't think the guy should kiss anyone's ass but being rude to someone who obviously needs help (and gave you 2k of their money) is uncalled for IMO. I don't know him personally and maybe like you said, he's just not personable and doesn't know how to talk to people :dunno: I try to give people the benefit of the doubt until I have some kind of interaction with them.

I must have missed Cliff being rude to anyone here, but I can tell you about my personal experiences with both Cliff and Tom.

I first met those guys at the the LA amp show 3 years ago. I was curious about all the hype, and wanted to go and see for myself.

I spent two or three hours in their room over the course of the day, where they VERY patiently answered all of my questions, ran me through damn near every patch they had programmed, and were just great guys in general.

Just this last year, I stopped by to say hello to Tom, and he asked me how I liked the latest firmware.

When I told him I hadn't updated since December '09 (thanks Cyndicate :D ) he laughed and told me to bring it by and he's update it for me. I did, and he did :D

For those guys to put up with a user like me, who literally can't even be bothered to connect the thing to a computer, I'd say that their customer service is pretty damn good

FWIW.....

I read on a couple of different threads here where Cliff basically said...if you dont like...just sell it. Then the threads got removed or locked.

That still dont deter me....I would like to check one out some day.

DIBS ON NATES!!

Back you whore!! :gethim:

  Dibs noted. In all honesty, I'll probably end up getting one. Those are the same threads I was talking about Dan and as much as I don't like the way he was coming across I'm pretty curious about it because it seems like it would fit the bill for what I need. Plus I would probably buy used anyway so I wouldn't be directly contributing

Here's Mr Andy giving the Axe a work out. I think Andy sounds great no matter what he plays through which to me is what I've always believed... it's more so the player than it is the tools. Tools make a difference but not as much if you have good hands.
