if anyone gives a damn about that tone   I love the production on that album even if it isn't their best songwriting. Anywhooooo,

This amp is soo tight YET dripping with sustain. AWESOME. I love how the mids saturate so beautifully at the :20 mark or so. Harmonically rich to say the least.

This clip is just the left channel of "Thorn Within". No cleans. And the solo is the Hagen with reverb added in Logic. The playing is rough but you get the idea. Had to share!!!

Sounds just awesome!!

I got to have a CCV at some point.

That sounds really great. Whenever I hear a Cameron, I actually do think of Hetfield's Black Album and Load tones. To me (from what I've heard), it definitely sounds right up there.

It's weird, considering they're both Mesa sounds (although on the Black Album the Mesa was slaved into a Marshall, and there is some Wizard amps on Load/ReLoad), but I agree with you. I hear it in the CCV clips, for sure. Maybe it's just us

Love the tone in the clip! Pretty much nailed it  I think it'd be right on with some double-tracking.

It is not you, lots of us have been saying for years that cameron's mod's are marshaboogies.

Feel like boogies.
Clip like boogies.

So that's why I want one recently

I've usually preferred the Friedmen stuff to Cameron personally, but the CCV has had my attention the last few days.

Actually I'm pretty sure during the black album is when he started using a Jose Marshall, which was also one of his main amps for Load (and further recordings too). Just seems that Load leans towards the Marshall and other older, non boogie amps though.

Having said that, I would love to hear a Cameron matched up with a Boogie or two :D

Hetfield used a Jose Marshall on the first album and Kirk used it for solos.

Sounds pretty damn good.

Always thought Load had some of the best recording/tone. Not an album I listen to very often but I appreciate the tone.

Only time Metallica used a Jose modded Marshall was on Kill 'em All. The amp was stolen while on tour. They used stock Marshall's for Ride the Lighting, and then switched to Mesa Mark IIC+ slaved into a JCM800 for Master of Puppets. ...AJFA has the same IIC+ and Marshall, and some Mesa Studio and Quad pre-amp. Black album was the same rig, with Kirk using an ADA MP-1 for some leads. Load/Reload was mostly Rectifiers and Wizard amps. During the Load tour they used Rectos into Wizard cabs. Roland JC120s for all the cleans.

Could be slightly off on this, going from memory here (which are 10+ years old, heh).

Close enough, load is not a jose marshall.

James is Mesa and or VH4 ch3 and blended amps.

Load definitely has a Jose Marshall on there. James did have one for Kill em All but as mentioned above, it was stolen. After that, they ended up with other Marshalls. Some were worked on by Ken Fischer.

During the time of the black album, both James and Kirk bought Jose Marshalls. I think Bob Rock also bought one at that time too. From what James has said, Bob's sounds the best and James' is pretttty close. Kirk's sounds good but is a little off, James saying he thinks it's due to it being done while Jose wasn't doing too well.

Ok, so a little different, my memory is a bit foggy, lol:

"[Right now, I'm] taking a break, [drummer] Lars [Ulrich] is arranging a song, it's an important part of songwriting, yet the most boring part for me. I am still there in spirit. While I open the fridge, and see tons of food, yet nothing to eat, because it always requires making something or heating it up, which takes 30 seconds too long when you are hungry. All you guys can relate to this probably.

"Last song we working on, big giant fat guitars with huge chugging and open fatness. Capn's of Crunch lives! The trusty white Explorer which is actually cream color now because of its age, still, rules the Crunch World. I have plenty of other fancy artwork guitars, but that one sounds the best. Sent [assistant] Zach to go fetch the Jose Marshall. During the recording of the Black Album, [producer] Bob Rock and I both got Jose Marshalls. He is the guy who hot-rodded Eddie Van Halen's Marshalls for the first VAN HALEN record, but mine doesn't sound as good as Bob's, or Eddie's for that matter. He did ours when he was really sick. [Guitarist] Kirk [Hammett]never got his cause Jose died before he finished it. On that happy note, have a great day, I have to get back to work."

Cans of worms OPENED!

Eddie's amp was not hot rodded, it was a simple EVH filtering change.
