The Future of Guitar Amps Looks a Lot Like the Past - Dave Friedman

Because like he said, people are always wanting tones from a long time ago, like 1972 not tones from 2025. So what's the point in being innovative or designing an amp that sounds fresh. Nostalgia is all most people want.

Use what makes you happy playing and what motivates you to play and write some music or riffs!

If it is a modeller, then all good! Enjoy!

Amp? Fantastic! Have fun!

The real trick (or not!) is finding the amp/modeller that works for you. It took me a long time to finally settle and it was staring me in the face the whole time through the years and I ignored it. This was partially due to what I read and the other due to availability and not being able to try it. When I finally tried it, it was one of those moments where it was exactly what I was hoping it would sound like.

One thing for sure….always have a backup ready regardless of tubes or other. Sometimes the gift of live music sends you a few presents that you may not want! lol!

I prefer tube amps, but god forbid they need to be serviced. Dropping $$$ on a tube amp these days to have some local guy F it up or take 10 weeks to fix it makes me just want to spend a few hundred dollars on a decent modeller.

Unfortunately, they break too

I agree with one of the top comments in the video. Tech fatigue is coming and AI will really speed that up.
