The-Kids’ Real MLB/Baseball Thread……Flashbacks……




Probably the most influential and most relevant expert in Baseball of this century.......had nothing to do with Baseball or ever even watched a game in his life......




Although I did develop the WAR-Ratio I never would have figured it out if it wasn't for Jim Slater.......and adapting his PEG-Ratio to Baseball.........a British accountant, financial invester/analyst from the 70's.........





The WAR-Ratio and the perspective it brings is at the core of my Top FA's for 2024 and its been shown to be a far superior method vs whatever other method or conventional wisdom the "experts" at the MLB/ESPN/MLB on Fox/Verlander etc etc have used for the last 100+ years or however long ^_^

At the heart of the WAR-Ratio is the mindset of foregoing the Juan Sotos, Aaron Judges and well even the Ohtanis or Trouts of the world.......




While these players are fantastic and anyone would have them they are already valued at market price or just arent a viable choice given the money they cost for some teams......




At the core of the WAR-Ratio method is the need to indetify undervalued players in order to simply get the most back on WAR to increase Total Team WAR like one would buy a stock to get the highest return on their investment.




One can also recreate a Trout, Judge or whoever "in the aggregate" using this approach and method and its been my approach to how teams should be built. You can also probably get more WAR for less money this way too and not have all the eggs in one basket.



Jim explains it best in how he approaches Monopoly.



Due to the way the game works and the arithmetical return for what you pay you actually land on the orange houses a lot more that bring a lower return and cost less due to the "Go to Jail Card" and other cards that help you get there faster or land on the orange houses more for more and even higher returns after landing in jail or cards that make you walk back and land on orange houses again and win faster.........






The same logic is applied when using WAR with Jim Slaters PEG Ratio in this sense with Baseball and picking FAs using the WAR Ratio in that you pick players that stand a higher chance of bringing a higher return in terms of production and wins with WAR with their cumulative WAR and the cost for that WAR and the highest returns given the opportunity cost.



In Monopoly due to the rules you land on orange houses more and stand to win more buying oranges houses..... undervalued players are the orange houses in today's game and in the MLB.....forget about the more expensive blue houses and the others....





Many people don't know that about Monopoly.......or Baseball and the MLB nowadays ImO.....

The Yankees would be no better or worse without Juan Soto on the team...... many fans point to the Yankees losing Soto to the Mets as a reason the Yankees season is going to hell but IMO you can't say that because Bellinger has been as good and slightly better on paper and per the numbers given fwar and overall production........



Especially whith men on base or with RISP......Bellinger is just much much better by the numbers..... The Yankees would be doing no better or actually worse with Soto on the team vs Belliger and if Bellinger is better than Soto why are the Yankees still slumping and blowing up......... the problems go deeper than just one or two players and its simply that they have no strategy...... its all just plug and play excel sheet "Baseball" putting advanced statistics and analytics at the forefront of their "strategy" with no real substance or emphasis on real Baseball and the fundamentals.

My Rankings are more accurate and to a lower margin of error when it came to my Regular Season and Post Season Power Rankings in the 2023 season vs the "experts"......they actually reflected performance by teams better than MLB/ESPN/Verlander/The-Ringer.... as good as the "experts" in 2024 and I don't have a full department of people and "professionals" or "experts" like Ken Rosenthal running around a floor of 500 people and a nationwide network of hundreds if not thousands of reporters and journalist..........





It's just me, my WAR-Ratio method and other factors and considerations, basic stats available to everyone and a little bit of calculus along with my Ti-84+ calculator.......thats it......you heard it here first.......

ImO its pretty stupid to blame Aaron Boone as Team Manager....... he didn't build this team..... he didn't put it together...... that was Front of House, President of Baseball Operations and the GM and mainly the GM....... if your going to fire anyone.....or have anyone resign IMO it should be either the President of Baseball Operations or the GM and here IMO it should be the GM.......


A Team Manager can only work with what hes got...... and when Cole and Gil got injured....... and the team had to depend on Fried who has been good at times but can't carry the team on his shoulders and Rodon being Rodon..... Stroman wasn't going to perform to expectations or exceed them but he brought some IP...... the Spring Training underperformance that we see now play out in the real season.....


You didn't exactly need a genius to tell you this team wasn't going to work and while yeah the bats are underperforming while this team wasn't as bad as the Orioles...... it pretty much had no pitching to start and its a miracle its gone on this far for so long..... if the owner should fire anyone IMO it should be Cashman because hes the one who put the team together and then realizing or having had to realize the core issues gotten more pitching at trade deadline...... instead he did all this dumbass random shit if you think about it even though he bought a lot...... it was all random dumbass shit and it didn't solve the core issue with the 2025 Yankees and that is no pitching aside from what you have to say about the poor defense and other stupid shit they have been doing lately......


It all falls on Cashman the Yankees GM...... he built the team, he designed it and no Team Manager could run a team or a car with worn out shit wheels and a shitbox pretty much to win which the 2025 Yankees are turning out to be....... an expensive ass shitbox of a team/car.......

ALS awareness matters on..... and off the field...... Lou Gehrig Day or not...... IMO with todays technology maybe an advancement is right around the corner and you never know.....


Remember it's been well over 70-80 years since Lou Gehrig was diagnosed and to this day there is no real cure for ALS....... maybe there isn't a cure but despite that IMO people like Sarah Langs are truly an inspiration not just in the real work she does in the sport not out of a need to be "better" or to do anything amazing really...... but just out of a real love for the sport


The work and dedication Langs brings to the sport is equal to that of Astrophysicist or Brain Surgeons or something....... she simply shows us things about the sport it's trying to tell us and not many others or anyone else can see really...... and for no other reason but for a love of the sport.


Even Shohei, Judge, Trout and anyone else would agree and tip their hat to Miss Langs and all the work she does.


Maybe there isn't a cure today or maybe there won't be one tomorrow.......



But that doesn't stop Langs or hinders her in any way and she is simply the best in Baseball.



Reporting/journalism/statistics/analytics....... No one on the planet is better than Miss Langs and she is the best at what she does ^_^

A couple years ago I was hit by a car while I was on a bike..... hit and run.......


Two rib fractures later....... a skull fracture...... left under a bridge...... to get ran over by a random guy in the bottom of a dip and bridge unconscious.... and left to die and get ran over....... my body destroyed......... my mind fractured.........


Thankfully the next person who saw me, pulled over to my side and called an ambulance..... and I woke up in a hospital..... with the privilege to continue my life...... and do what I was meant to..... at whatever capacity I could........When I recovered I told myself my biggest fear would be losing my chance at my full potential physically and mentally.......


I went on to get a couple college degrees and do two centuries/hundred miles on my bike and top 100 on my bicycle out of 1000+ participants climbing Mount Glendora with a 25 pound bike from the 80s vs the other dudes with the latest 15 pound carbon fiber bikes......... either with college or sports........mind or body......... I wasn't going to let myself down after the accident...........


Maybe Im not the best...... maybe Im not the smartest guy....... and maybe I havent reached my full potential..... but my potential is a lot higher than I or anyone thought possible........ and I can be glad for that and be glad to still be alive......
