Just put up a video for the seriously killer Matchless Chieftain. It's super dynamic, warm, punchy, loud, and bold, but it's easy under the fingers. It also sounds great at lower volumes. I'm normally much more of a high gain guy, but there's a super addictive quality to playing through such a touch sensitive amp. Hope you dig it! ⚡

One of my all-time favorite amplfiers right here. Marshall, VOX, Matchless and Fender.

Sounds good. There are a few Dr. Z amps that have great cleans, and I’ve also heard a couple Morgan’s that were very, very nice sounding for cleans.

I gotta say, you've got back into wanting another Matchless.

The great playing helps, but yes - a very fine amplifier and nice video.

Both volumes at about 1 and stick your favorite drive pedal in there! Ive had my chieftain now for about 17 years. Great great amps.... They LOVE zendrives =0

If you want to get EVH "1984" distortion, hit the Matchless with a Crowther Double Hot Cake.

Great tone there, very nice playing too! Lots of harmonic juiciness that keeps it lively/bouncy. I love a great clean tone, I use either a 30W Rocket, 50W Fender Bassman, or 100W '68 Marshall (all built/modded by me). Put my Nemesis delay in front and I'm lost in lucious, cavernous clean tones for a while.

Sounds great
We did a project over here for a friend, we got to borrow a Chieftain and a second one that I can't remember the name of, but they were beautiful sounding amps, perfect for the tones he needed. He ran a tele through them and it sounded amazing. Big warm and chimey and super touch responsive
They sure do get hot though, I'm talking cook a steak on it hot! I thought for a bit that something was wrong but he said they always run real hot and it was normal. I stuck a fan behind them anyway, I just could not get over it   I think they are Class D output sections ?
