I am dying to get one of these heads and build it. The clips out there are amazing and hopefully I can build one and tame it enough for use in a club. Going to add some videos here just because some of them are too cool not to miss. check this one out, this tone is amazing and I can't imagine what it could do boosted.

Yeah me too.. I'm tossing around some design ideas in my head. I've been prepping my wife for this endeavour already..

I thought about getting one... and modding the hell out of it with a loop, switches, etc. I really wish they would make blank plexi pannels so that I can add additional pots in line with all of the other pots and not have to use input jack holes.

I've seen those... I found a custom panel site. They can make you a custom logo and custom panels. The problem is gonna be the blank chassis. I've only seen them as either completely blank or stamped out to suit a particular design.

Yup, if you want to design your own chassis layout and cut it from a complete blank, it is no fun. To punch a chassis right requires expensive Greenlee punches and a drill press for the smaller holes and the whole thing is a BIG pain in the ass. Once my prototype is done, I'm going to CAD up the chassis design and have someone make me 30 or so that are cut perfectly by a machine shop (only cost effective way is to do that many)... You can get plexi panels done at amplates.com, but he is very expensive. For a one off, he is fine, but better to CAD the design yourself and just get the panels laser cut cheap rather than be at his mercy... he doesn't give you the CAD files, of course...

That thing sounds amazing.. I am thinking of picking up a kit really soon, 2 more weeks and busy season is over and I need something to do! For that kind of breakup though, that shit is loud! You will def. need a attenuator.

Are you still thinking of building one? Superlead?

I've drilled metal panels before. It fucking blows! I think I can probably get away with what Metro offers.
Amplates.com was where I was looking too. Seems like he does nice work. But yeah, it's not cheap.

one of my fondest memories is from the L.A. amp show 2 years ago. I was in the Metro room and - George had me play a Superlead boosted with the old Boss 10 band eq's - uside down frown - amp on 10 - best guitar tone I ever heard. period.

There's really nothing like it. Just wish it wasn't so deafening. I remember when I took the PPIMV off my '71 SL and cranked it boosted for about 10 seconds (that's all I could stand)... it was amazing... Nothing really nails it.

I like to do that with my Fortin Cali. Set it up for a Plexi sound and slam the front of it with my Boss eq pedal (frown setting). Sounds amazing. It's got a master so I don't have to turn up to 10 thank God. :D

I've built four Metroamp heads now and the all sounded amazing. I should be recieving my latest 2203 back from Dave Friedman as soon as he finishes tweeking it. Cant wait. It's gonna slay!

These kits are great. You guys DO know that the Marsha is based off the Metroamp kit and uses about 90% of the kit parts don't you? Bang for the buck they are amazing and with a couple of easy mods such as the "one wire" cascade mod, these become screaming high gainers!! If you are good with a soldering iron then go for it!!

I love mine. I'm gonna do a SB project when things slow down a bit. They are the real thing.....maybe better ;)

Yeah. At this point, I've heard dozens of Metroamp build clips. They're practically dead-on to an old Marshall.

I think a key ingredient to Dave's amp is the transformer - makes the 50 watts as big sounding/feeling as a 100 watt.

I'm assuming he's having custom-wound transformers made. I want to build a Metro just for the power transformer with the low-voltage option... LOL! :D

Does anyone really know where the Marsha's transformers come from? Or who makes them ? They sound amazing so I could care less really, just curious :D

That would be a good question for Dave. I thought he said he liked Hammond but I'm not sure if that's what he uses in the Marsha's.
