The new Mesa Boogie Royal Atlantic sounds

That sounds awesome. Love how it can go down to 3 watts, the combo would make a great club amp.
 
Sounds quite good. I wonder what this means for the Mesa effort to market into the Marshall/Modded Marshall tone.

Great design. The ability to dial down to 3W seems practical. Will be interesting to get into GC and wipe the bubble gum and burger grease off one to test drive it.
 
Sounds like it's going to be a good one...I already have the Electra Dyne so no gas but I like the power scaling....the scaling sounds good on the demo.
 
This Royal Atlantic seemed like Mesa's take on a Bogner Shiva - in a good way. I really dug it! Thought it sounded very good in person.
 
I didn't like it much when I tried it.

Definitely the new mesa amps are not for me.

It looks like an Electra Dyne with more options. While it has the high/low on the gain channel, the clean channel is totally independant and the high and low gain have their own gain and master controls. But it comes with EL34's and it has the power scaling.

I picked up a Barber Burn Unit for my Electra Dyne and it does indeed turn it into a flame thrower. I got rid of my Xotic BB since i picked up the Barber.

They've been trying since the Stiletto's but those amps to me were a swing and a miss for Boogie. Although, i think the Stiletto's compete well against amps like the DSL,TSL, and JVM's. But i like the direction they're going with the Electra Dyne and Royal Atlantic because they're a bit different from a Marshall, and they're unlike any Boogie they've come up with in the past.

I like the Mark IV (and Mark V actually) and I really dig the Lonestar and F-series which I owned.

but didn't like the Electradyne, Transatlantic or Royal Atlantic.

I have to agree. I was in love with the Electradyne and had one at home for a few weeks but in the end I found I was able to get better, much better tones from my 20th Shiva and PWE EH. I have sent my search back to Mesa's roots and am looking at Rectoverbs, Tremoverbs and the durprisingly great F series! The F Series really surpries me since you can find them used at a great price and they sound and feel as good as any Boogie I have ever played! However, I had a chance to play a Royal Atlantic with 6L6 tubes and that surprised me! Might keep it on my list.
 
I like the Royal Atlantic actually. Never even heard of it before I played one last fall. Sounded GREAT to me.
 
I own the ra100 head for couple months now. Set it n go. No endless tweaking. The tone is there. love it :thumbsup:
 
I can't wait to get the Royal, it will go well with my Bogner 20th and PWE Event Horizon.
Sounds killer with 6L6 tubes.
 
Played this and the ED today at G Center. The Royal sounds like a cross between the Mark V which I don't like and the Dual Rectifier. But somehow, this amp sounds magnificent. I have been trying to get back to basics and get back to single channel amps and pedals but was having difficulty finding the right one.
