I remember feeling similarly and just coming across other boosts that did the job better for meMetalHeadMike":3n563cki said:Metlupass2":3n563cki said:I tried a Koko and didn't like it. I wanted to but didn't.
Same for me on the Koko original.
Agreed. It depends so much on one’s amp, pickup’s, settings, tolerance for noise, etc. I’ve been through almost 130 of them and have 5 pedals staying for now and 3 rack pq’s, but for metal and hard rock the only 2 of 5 pedals I’d use would be my Klon and Thorpy Heavy Water. I have about 5 more to check out on my radar now including the Wizard Leopard and KSR ErosRacerxrated":3mx9fdq8 said:Pedals....very tough to have everyone agree on, just too many variations. It's easily the deepest rabbit hole in GAS land. Great time though, with so many great options out there, but you could buy/sell for years and still be only 10% of the way there.

In every other category of gear (except tubes) I’ve baiscally tried it all and even the few ones left, I at least already know about them (like Larry), while with pedals there are just so many out there that I always find myself adding a bunch to my radar periodically that I somehow never heard of before. Luckily they’re relatively easy to sell since the vast majority of them aren’t very good imo
I feel I can tell when a pedal is good now, after trying so many, even if the amp is a terrible fit for it, but I always start with my boogie iic+ as the boost platform because I have yet to try any boost that doesn’t sound good with it
Yeah the c+’s just get along with everything it seems. Definitely look into the heavy water. It’ll complement your boss’s and 1140 nicely. It’s a fairly new pedal, but maybe later some decent used deals will come up. I got mine new since there was a 14 return policy to try it out, but it’s stayingRacerxrated":36q5ct27 said:braintheory":36q5ct27 said:Agreed. I agree with the C+; it likes all pedals and all speaker cabs/combinations. It's the only amp I've owned that isn't picky with anything..and that goes with all variations from the SRG to the HRG, HRG ++ and now the Coli. That Thorpy Heavy Water sounds like a great pedal. Definitely on the radar.
One thing you have to do Sam is find a good vintage JMP NMV Marshall...no mods, just au natural....I haven't stopped playing my 72 for the last 3 weeks. Yeah its loud but you have a HiWatt so that shouldn't deter you....lol. Once you find the sweet spot its amazing. Put one or 2 boosts in front, or none..just as you've mentioned before there's something about vintage gear that newer stuff just can't achieve.

That sounded better. What amp is he running it through? That little SUHR on top of the other Suhr? I read the notes on YT, guess it's a Suhr Badger 35.
I like the fact that it seems to retain the crunchy factor like a cranked plexi or superlead. I know the Suhr is kind of soft, rounded a bit loose on the low ampwise and this peda tightend and crunched it up judging from the clip.
I like the fact that is seems to still tighten up the low end like a good OD808 pedal. Does it tighten the low end mhenson42?
The Koko didn't really tighten the low end as much, it sounded great but I like that slight tightening of the lows with my Plexi's and Superleads. This pedal might be up my alley yet?
