Just never got into nihilist boomer humor, especially guys like Carlin living in $10 million dollar mansions railing against everything he himself lived. Seems inauthentic...but then again that was the theme of the 70's and 80's.

He's railing against a rigged system. He is proof that those with this complaint are not just looking to "Blame others for their misfortune."

He's also proof that anyone can get theirs if they apply themselves. As rigged as he thinks it is, you'll notice that he had no issues taking advantage of tax breaks or amassing a personal fortune. I'll let you in on a secret. Every government and every system is rigged. You learn the fucking rules and play your best hand.

Well, we disagree that anyone can get rich if they want. Carlin worked his ass off, he had natural talent and an incredibly incisive intellect.

But the point is — he was rich, so why was he "complaining"?

We disagree on him being particularly talented or working his ass off. Telling jokes is not working your ass off. That does bring up a point though. If you think the work it takes to write jokes, deliver them effectively, book and sell yourself to people is working your ass off, it's kind of impossible to make the argument that a CEO of a massive organization didn't work their ass off. You don't just hire your fucking buddy to be a CEO. There's a reason why they pick them and a reason why they pay them so much. And it isn't benevolence. At least the CEO is being honest about it, unlike George.

Unlike a CEO that could be appointed for many reasons — and leave rich while the company goes bankrupt — a comedian only makes money if people think he's good. But you're still not answering my question. If he was rich, what was he complaining about?

Yeah I think he was a classical liberal. Have you seen his early shit ? Rowan and Martin and all that ? That doesn't mean he didn't believe some of his own bullshit, but he didn't believe it enough not to take advantage of it. As for him being hypocritical I'd have to say anything he said on stage or in a routine is exempt from that. Now if he bitched about it in the OT section of a guitar forum, yeah, total hypocrite, but as part of an act ? The whole point of comedy used to be that you can rip on anyone. It's comedy. Used to be that way. Next thing you know you got shit like Issac Hayes doing South Park for decades while they make fun of queers, blacks, jews, bikers, stoners, Canadians, fat bitches, basically everyone. Then they rip on scamintologists and Tom Cruise and that's over the line and he quits. Fuck him and his big salty balls.

I think you just don't like it when I criticize certain things. I think it's personal. In my view you're like a slave that works extra hard and comes to take on the view of his masters. To your credit, that slave was probably better off than the one with a "Bad attitude" ?‍♂️

I think you imagine things because you know, the internet is not face to face. Me not agreeing with your criticisms isn't the same thing as not liking it. In reality it doesn't even effect me so why would I have an opinion on like or dislike of it.

In my view I'm like a man who has worked since he was 15 years old, always managed to provide for himself and his family and has a very specific set of guidelines as to what makes a man a man. I left my parent's house before I was legally allowed to drive. And in the 41 years since no one has ever had to give me anything and I have never asked for anything. My work ethic is not a liability to me. I enjoy working. I get a sense of accomplishment from doing my job better than everyone else. And that is ALWAYS my goal. In 25 years as a contractor I never had an unhappy customer or client and in the 13 years I've been doing my current job I have had more emails to my bosses from customers saying what a fantastic job I did than I can count. That means something to me. Contrary to what you may think, I spend a lot of time taking care of older people I don't even know. In a world where few can be trusted to look after those who can't look after themselves I make a point to do all I can. People that happen to see me in action with a customer are almost always shocked because to them I am kind of a gruff old bastard who will rip your fucking face off if you piss me off, but to those lonely old people with no one they can trust and no one who takes care of them I am the sweetest mother fucker they ever met. Like show up to someone's house to install a service line and end up cleaning their gutters or doing a minor siding repair type of thing.

That and animals. I spend a lot of money donating to specific shelters that I know are doing great things for animals who otherwise would suffer. I am a conservative and that is a fact and while I would never give anyone any grief about hunting or eating meat, I myself quit hunting over a decade ago and eat very little meat. Almost no processed meat, but I still do love a good bison tenderloin or venison. And I just happen to be surrounded by people that always have some. Dude, I am the guy who catches a wasp in my house and sets it free outside. I routinely pick up my garbage and put it back in the cans because I am definitely not doing anything about the raccoons that raid it constantly. I would kill a thousand men before I would kill an animal ( other than a mercy killing)

At any rate, I do what I want to do. And live how I want to live. I sleep, well, actually I sleep like shit but that has nothing to do with guilt or anguish.
That is not being a slave.
