Nope, on a budget plan, was roughly $250 a month. Then in August, $800 bill and a long winded excuse on the phone that made no sense. Then on a payment plan to pay off the $800 on top of my usual montly fee, then they just keep adding on and on and on, fees fees fees. I just send them $300 a month. I told my wife, basically it's going to cost $12000 a year to use Natural Gas. And that's not exaggerating either. Like everything in life, it's only going to get worse. They just keep fucking consumers over and over and there's not a damn thing anybody can do about it. "Oh vote Healey out." Suckas are under the false pretence that if a republican gets in there (Good Luck) that things are going to change. Nothing ever changes, ever. It just gets worse and worst. It's part of the global plan to erradicate the middle class. Not conspiracy, FACT!!!

This stupid cunt wants everyone on heat pumps. HEAT PUMPS do not work in arctic conditions and where I live in MA on my mountain, it's as bad as the arctic circle in the Winter. Heat Pumps in New England DO NOT WORK as a primary heat source.

Is switching to propane an option for you?
At least then you can shop around. With NG, you're stuck paying whatever they want to charge.
It's relatively easy and cheap to swap over, your current NG system should be able to run on propane.

Yeah it would probably be a huge fiasco getting permits and stuff for a huge tank. If I didn't live in residential area, I would do that and just not tell anyone. My dad in NH has a vacation house that has a huge tank. It's cheap compared to NG.

and the package stores at the time were closed sunday which was a mudderforker

I still had an active military ID so used that to buy booze and at bars.
then Sundays we went to the exchange at Westover for alcohol. they were allowed to be open

It might be worth a phone call to a local propane company. Pretty sure the permits only really suck if the tank is over 1000 gallons?
And i think the company takes care of the permits & inspections.
Probably worth it in the long run. YMMV

Go heat pump man. We are 100% electric for heating, hot water and transportation, and our bill is never over $400 per month. That covers 3 EVs, a pretty big house, running a walk in cooler, powering a couple greenhouses, and 4 people in a busy house with 2 teenage daughters who like long showers.
And the best part is electricity doesn't go up in price when some dumb fucker decides to bomb the middle east.

Propane is way more expensive than NG. The gas company by law also can’t sell gas for any more than what they paid for it. The part of your bill they make money on is maintenance and distribution. Which rate increases or decreases have to be approved by the public service commission.

There’s no way a residential gas bill is $1300/ month unless the residence is a monstrous mansion. Even then I doubt it. Something else is going on.

Buying the holding tank is the big expense but yes, shop around when you need a refill.

Exhorbant bills: some here are dealing with that also, resulting in a flood of complaints to local politicos who finally had to call energy execs in for meetings and explanations. Outraged customers couldn't be ignored...."delivery fees" were reduced.
The riches they already raked in were not addressed.
