All time top 5 amps. Ones you've played only. No hearsay.

In no order:

Diezel Herbert
Engl Powerball II
1967 Ampeg VT-22
1965 Fender Pro Reverb
Rhodes Colossus

edit: duh i put a combo in there. I'll chalk that up to Thursday beers

Glad you mentioned the Engl. I friggin' LOVE my Powerball II!!! For this newer rock and metal that I've been doing I wouldn't trade it for my old Bogners or VHT UL. Not even close. Doesn't seem to get a lot of respect from many here (and elsewhere), but I fell in-love the minute I plugged into one in the store.

I took mine to band practice for the first time last night and it sounded SO much fuller/better (to my ears) than the Steve Morse Engl that the other player was using. I was running my Master A at "1.25" and people asked the other player to turn his Morse up because I was burying him in the mix. He tends to dial his tone a bit thinner than me. But the more I play this Powerball the more I love it. Never-say-never... but if I continue to play newer rock and metal, I just can't see me getting bored with the Engl and looking elsewhere. There may be tighter, more brutal amps out there (like my old Pittbull), but the Powerball can do metal and it's still got "character" like my Bogners had. The UL just didn't seem to have any of that warmth and character.

In no particular order:
Splawn QR
Fender Twin Reverb
Marshall 69 plexi
Baron B60
Peavey VTM

How did you manage to get one without the faceplate having black smudges all over it?

I've even seen NEW ones that were messed up!

These amps are very susceptible to the smudges  your amp is in sweet condition

I played one of those and almost really liked it. Just couldn't dial the fizz out. But I was playing through v30's and not greenbacks.

Mesa Stiletto Deuce
JCM800 2205
Soldano Hot Rod 50
