From where I'm at (I'm too old to know what teenagers are actually doing) it looks like modellers are mini-amps are killing the full size market. A brand new Mini-Recto or 5150 III is $999, and they're even cheaper used.
Factor in that the current crop of teenagers are largely conformists with no real rebellious streak (their cultural leader was charged for egging his neighbours house), and that computer based music lowers the skill barrier even further than Nirvana did since there's no requirement to actually play a real instrument... and rock 'n roll ain't lookin' so good right now.
