So Poland is one of my influences and his rig has always blew me away. I know there are many but his mindset behind it is well thought out. I can't wait till it's done. Zachman has great taste in gear and I hope to use the light bars used in his rig which is epic. Your tone rules Zachman :)

Nice! What all are you going to put in it?

I'd love to find some of those light bars like Zach has. They look incredible and seem to do the job they're there for really well, too.

Here's the plan...
Langner Elite preamp
I need to score a PCM42 for delay or 2290
TC Electronics G-Force (harmonizer)
TC D-two delay for spacial delay 30-50ms split left/right. He uses two Yamaha D1500's to do this but the TC can do it in one space.
Alesis XT:C (reverb)
Roland SRV2000 for infinite drone/freeze but I think he replaced them with MXP1's but they're a pain to program.
cad cgm-2 compressor for vol. swells like Poland
I need to also find a CAE stereo line mixer and 4X4
I have two Furman units, one is the surge suppressor w/the draw out lights and I have a AR117 line regulator at the base of the rack that's hard to see. There a two space drawer for whatever and I still need a flat draw out shelf for some pedals. I may use the drawer for those because I need so much at this point. I know the rig has enough to put out brutal tones already but there's more to do if I want the next level I have in my head.

Nice! I love my racks!! Maybe you should do a build thread, if you have the time. I'm sure several people (at least) here would love to see it assembled and hear it when it's done.

BTW, just my opinion, but the MXP1 isn't that difficult to program. Basic tweaks are pretty easy and there are a lot of presents to start from. Then again, the SRV2000 has its own sound, too. (I have both the MXP1 and the SRV2000.)

Also, as I'm sure you know, the 2290 has a lot more options than the PCM42, but they are both great units with their own unique sounds. I went with the 2290, just for the flexibility. (I don't onw a PCM42.)

Good luck with your build! Taking it to the next level is always worth it (to me, at least).

:rawk:

Thx for a thoughtful reply. Of the two which would you use since the SRV2000 has it's own sound? BTW, I think you should do a build too, it makes a great thread IMO...

Zachman where are you!??? Lost in all that gear

Mad respect!! I’d love to hear it when you’re done!!
Good luck!??

Well I only have half the gear I need and I don't need everything he has but the CAE stuff is kinda scarce these days. The dual line mixer in particular.

Thanks! I love huge racks!! ;) Well, I'd probably take the MPX-1 over the SRV2000 simply because of its versatility.

The SRV2000 is great for that kind of reverb, and it can do a nice delay, too, if you know the Easter Egg trick. It works well for short reverbs and the long reverbs have this grainy almost (but not quite) lo-fi sound that's really nice. But, that's all it can do. If you want it to just those things, it's a great character piece. Just know that it doesn't really do much else.

The MPX-1 doesn't have nearly the sound qualities of the older Lex units (e.g. PCM70, PCM81, etc.), but it still sounds good and better than most units <$1k and better than some <$2k. It does decent chorus/flanger, great delays, really great reverbs, and even some limited pitch shifting. There are tons of presets and most don't need much tweaking, if any at all, to sound really good. If you ever get into the advanced editing functions, there's so much you can do, but it gets complicated quickly. There's no real need to get that deep into programming it, though, since the basic tweaks are very easy to get to.

Another Lexicon alternative might be the LXP-15 II. One pops up every so often (more so than the SRV2000) for about the same money. This one has a little more of the "Lexicon sound" but not at the same level as the PCM series. It's darker than the SRV, but just as grainy in its own way. It can do some limited multi-effects, modulations, delays, and is a little more versatile in the reverb department, too.

Another Roland option might be the SRV-330. These are getting harder to find and are usually a little more than the SRV2000, but it's so much more advanced. It's strictly a reverb unit (I think there may be some presets than have chorus and/or delay with them, too, but I don't remember off the top of my head), but it sounds really nice. Sonically, I'd put it in the same category as the MPX-1 if not a little better on the reverb side, but it's limited to being a reverb. It's got a nice warm, maybe analog-like sound. Definitely not as digital or sterile sounding as a lot of newer units can be (including the SRV3030). Just BTW, the SRV330 was part of a series of effects from Roland, the other two being the SDE330 delay (great unit) and the SDX330 modulation effects.

Of course, all of this is just my opinion. I do own all these units, but I use them in my recording rig.

And yeah, I was thinking about putting together a build thread for both my new "economy size" rig and the rearranging I'm doing for my big rack. It might be a couple of weeks, I'm still waiting on a few parts, too. Haven't gotten all the required cables mapped out, yet, and discovered I'll need a new midi switcher. Still waiting on another Furman PL-8, Decimator Pro, and Yamaha SPX (all backordered, but should be in next week). In the mean time, I'll try to post a thread with some pics of my newly re-racked Boogies in a day or two.

  fwiw, I would suggest an Eventide Eclipse over the G-Force for anything/everything Harmonizer. Also, Mark L has a dual-stereo line mixer VERY similar to the CAE, without the long wait.

Hey, Zach! Thanks for posting the link to those rack lights / power strips... I love the way those look. :)

I'll second your recommendation of the Eclipse over the G-Force. While I don't own a G-Force, I've played through a few. My Eclipse sounds amazing and, IMHO, blows everything else out of the water (except other Eventides, of course). It's not that the TC units are bad, they're not. It's just that I greatly prefer the way Eventides respond to my playing. They inspire me like no other effects, not sure how else to describe it.

NO problem. Happy to be useful. I like them too, and use them as a vent space in addition to lighting up the face of the rack without being too bright on stage.
