It was a great game and win for the Pens. Considering where they used to be in the NHL. Bottom of the barrel for so many years after the Lemieux era. Then to win Sid The Kid in a game of lotto after the lockout.

I see a lot of Pittsburgh bandwagon fans, but its a glorious win for the real fans who liked them in the shit years. (Which are few and far between)

I'm not sure who is "bandwagon". I'm sitting here in my Lemieux jersey purchased in the early 90's. I suffered through the last place seasons with them and went to games in those years. That makes this so much sweeter.

Great game, the Pens definitely defied my expectations and played like they wanted it more. I didn't have a horse in this race but I'm glad to see someone knock off the Wings.

You are going to get bandwagon fans for a Pittsburgh team. I love the Penguins, but Pittsburgh fans aren't among the best fans in the world. I know these words will likely stir up a shit storm in a pro-Pittsburgh thread, but it is true. The true fans are usually overly opinionated asses, and the rest are bandwagoners.

Do you live in Pgh or have you been there lately? The city oozes pride for their teams. Their fans always travel well (for the Pens and Steelers). There will be alot more folks jumping on the bandwagon now that they have the Cup (and Super Bowl) again. But they have a really great fan base.

Congratulations Pittsburgh fans. You guys deserve the cup, you out played the Wings when they had to, the cup was there for the taking and the Pens executed.

To win a cup you have to have a lot of things going right for you. It takes more than skill to win, it takes good goaltending, team D, hard work, will, some luck and health. The Penguins had all of that and Detroit ran out of will and health. No excuses, it happes in every run.

Detroit will be back. with or without Hossa. The dynasty as NOT been handed over tot he Pittsburgh Penguins, they'll lose some key guys before july 1...as will Detroit but they have guys in the system capable of playing.

Oh yeah if you guys are talking bandwagoners, Sens fans got Pens fans beat for sure. Being a true hardcore fan I was disgusted at the lack of support in the city before the playoffs started last year and the Pens swept the Sens. In this area, it seems that the Leafs fans are stupid, the Habs fans are arrogant...and the Sens fans are bandwagoners.

Lucky for you guys that you have the main core of your team locked up for a while and should be good again next year, depending on the hangover! After this season, who knows, it could be the same teams next year for a best out of 3? I hope not for our sake

Very true, the Pens seemed to want it more. They could taste it and you saw it in the way they hustled.
The Wings should be embarrassed, because the last two games they played were pitiful. No disrespect to the Pens, but a farm team could have beaten the wings in the last two games. I've never seen that team play so scattered, unorganized and slow to rush for the puck.
Fleury was incredible. I love that last save at the buzzer.
I will like to see if he Pens can match the Lemieux dynasty and win another cup next year. That would be very cool.

I didn't post this last night because I was out getting hammered. In all sincerity I will say congratulations to the Penguins. You kicked the shit out of us last night. You deserved to win. Clearly a new rivalry has begun and I will look forward to every game we play against you. I'm gonna take the high road over commenting on some of the ridiculous things said about the Red Wings because the people that are saying them are just talking out of their asses. You see what you want to see about the Red Wings and that's fine. I'll be over here knowing the truth and standing by my team, win or lose. Be happy that your team won, not that the other team lost. It was an incredible series and it went to a game 7 with a final score of 2-1 with a very good chance of it going into OT at the end. It wasn't a cakewalk and nobody with half a brain expected it to be for either team. I'm not ashamed of or disappointed in my team in any way. Yeah, be pissed at Hossa for jumping ship and then laugh at all the irony, but in my opinion he still made the right choice and I don't see why he'd move to another team this summer. That being said, he'll have to take a couple-million-dollar pay cut if he wants to stay here.

It's weird to say this but it's almost like I don't care that we lost. It's mid-June and I've been able to watch hockey for like 10 months straight. That's frigging awesome. Next season will be here before we know it. If anything, losing makes it all that much more interesting. Now we have a goal other than "stay champions". This may sound smug, but when you're at the top it gets a little bit boring. Everyone (the fans, that is) expects us to win. Us losing is very good for hockey.

All of that being said, I think Crosby and Malkin are incredible players but they have a long way to go in terms of having class. You can come back with, "Well, [this player or that player on the Red Wings] did [this or that]! So, yeah, like they have so much more class!" but that still doesn't absolve them from acting the way they do. Yeah, Crosby's a whiner and overreacts and embellishes, but I don't really care about disliking him as much as I do Malkin. That guy's just a punk. An incredible player and 100% deserving of the Conn Smythe Trophy, but he shows little character. It will be interesting to see if/how these two grow up over the years.

Probably. I'm sure some of you guys dislike some players on the Wings and I would have no idea why but I think that's just the way it is. Some players you just don't like.

In all honesty, it looked like the hungrier team won last night. My Wings spent too little time on the attack, and their passing was sloppy (that second goal must be giving Stuart nightmares - as well it should). Man, my heart was in my throat when I think it was Ericsson who clanked one off the crossbar with less than a minute left! Arrrrrrrgggggghhhh!

If I weren't so emotionally invested in the one (being a displaced Michigander), but just an objective observer, I'd say that this was just the kind of finals the NHL needed. Every game (except Game 5) was hotly contested. It was great drama, even if I'm NOT thrilled with the result

I have been to Pittsburgh several times and lived(somewhat) in the area. I still know and associate with several people from there. Pittsburgh fans are obnoxious, overly sensitive and incredibly arrogant. But that is actually how it is for most eastern cities. Steeler fans in particular are a special breed of douche. The only Pittsburgh team I like is the Penguins, and I liked them since I was a little kid. When I went to Pittsburgh and met people from Pittsburgh I was surprised at how shitty they were. I had no opinion on the Steelers, then my first season around Steeler fans started and I almost immediately hated them. Now they are my least favorite team in football. This is all just one mans opinion though, so for all the people I probably just offended, sorry.
