Hendrix. End thread.

Of course Hendrix was incredible. But it's not even close to being the end of the story. To say so is absolutely absurd.

Sorry man. Extremely short sighted and immature statement. :aww:

Damn dude, calm down, you read way TOO much into things. "End thread" it's just a saying...you don't have to take it so literally and jump down his throat, I guess that's your choice. Feel free to attack me as you did him. And here's something to take literally, many folks consider Hendrix to be the best to ever play an electric guitar. Guess what it's just an opinion...nothing more :D

I'm not sure about every song on the album, but he started BBA with a Les Paul. Some BBA shows is def a Strat, but for most he used a Les Paul.

Best strat tone I've ever gotten:

Metropoulos 12000 Series Clip

Steve

That's the kind of tone I am looking for. What kind of pickups were used here? Sounds awesome Steve!
Thanks man! That was my Suhr Henderson with Suhr ML (Mike Landau) single coils with SSC (Silent Single-Coil) System to eliminate the 60 Hz hum...

What defines the 'strat tone' for me is pick'less playing, neck pup, clean channel with a bit of hair on it. Done.

Any other sound conjured on a strat does little for me, just sayin'...

So...Mark Knopfler?

Let me rephrase... The tone that is most exemplary in MY OPINION is along the lines of neck pup, clean/crunch playing. Whether it be Knopfler, Beck, Belew, Clapton, Gilmour, Frusciante, Gallagher, Johnson or who what not - the sound of a strat to "me" is the neck pup on low gain. I'm not saying you can't slay with a Strat in higher gain applications, I just feel the tone of the strat becomes less 'apparent' the further to the bridge it gets picked up, and the more gain it gets layered into.

That's it that's all.

The Stratocaster lets you're character come through more than any other guitar.
I've heard this statement quite often. I dunno, don't really buy it I guess. When I hear guys using strats, they sound like guys using strats. No different than guys using LP's sounding like guys playing LP's.

That said I prefer the tele body over both. :)
I think it has less to do with a Strat and more to do with single coils and/or low output pickups in general. They tend to be much more open sounding and dynamic than humbuckers/high output pickups (which can have a homogenizing effect) which is construed as "letting character come through".

And I've been looking for a good Tele recently...I've been digging them over Strats lately
