A ton? There really aren't that many in the grand scheme of things and most of them aren't really getting pushed so most people don't know anything about them.

I think the sword is all right. There are some bands doing the same thing in a more interesting way to me but i still like listening to them.
 
St.Vitus anyone????? Spirit Caravan anyone???? The Obsessed???

I think the deal is that there aren't a lot of bands doing this style right now and a lot of their younger fans haven't heard a new band like this. So while it sounds rehashed and copied to us oldtimers, it sounds fresh to younger guys.

But the lack of growling vocals is really nice.

I've sampled A LOT of "stoner rock" bands and no band I've found rocks my ass like The Sword. :rock: I really like Down too, but to me their style is very different from The Sword. Their both "stoner rock", but The Sword is just catchier to my ears. Stoner rock/metal tends to have a lot of the same traits, but I really don't think many of their songs sound the same. But that's just me. :dunno:
 
To me The Sword are like Sabbath mixed with 80's thrash, but better than both.

I like a lot of stoner and doom music. Like all styles there are similarities but once you starting listening there are quite signifigant differences.

Fu Manchu, Clutch, definately stoner bands - sound nothing alike, and nothing like The Sword. (still kickass though)

to me the sword sound like a band that loves sabbath but has heard a bunch of other bands influenced by them. love them and love most stoner rock but i saw brant bjork on that wiki page and he sounds nothing like most typical stoner bands more like straight up rock to me
