What is it?
I've given up trying to trade or sell my Kelly and have decided I'm gonna swap the floyd out for a trem and roller nut and change the pups.
So I'm looking for the thickest and darkest pup out there, cuz this guitar is BRIGHT.

I'm thinking custom custom so far, what do you guys think?

A very thick dark bridge pickup with some sizzle on top is the WCR Godwood. I think they are just a great pickup.

You might try a Dimarzio Air Norton in the bridge. It works great in the bridge position of a bright floyd equipped guitar. Just don't tap the coils, because then it actually gets REALLY bright, total opposite of humbucker mode.

The thickest, darkest bridge pickup I've used is the Duncan Invader.

I hated it...it was mud city.

My other guitarist has one in his epi lp. It sounds ok on rhythms but the leads are crap imo. This is in a basswood body.
That pup isn't an option for me.

I had a CC in a Floyd equipped superstrat and it sounded good but imo is not as clear and thick in the low mids as the Godwood. This pup is very hard to beat and its not super hot and compressed. You can get it in a A2 or A5 mag also.

Bare Knuckle Warpig (regular one with the A5 magnet) is the darkest I know of..

thickest, darkest pickup I've ever owned/heard/played/etc.

DIMARZIO SUPER III

It's also one of the hottest pups I've ever owned/used/played/etc.

[/thread] (IMO.)

WoW!!!

That sucker is HOT! 25k, Holy Crap! That's gotta be more gainy than my WCR Ironman.

Wonder If I should try one of these... How is the BOTTOM? I favor pickups that move a lot of air.

I know Wade at MCP had a 30k in the works, maybe he release it with the new site on may 1st. all of his pickups move a ton of air. HUGE bottom end.

I don't know about thick & dark, but it's definitely not thin or bright. Bare Knuckle Warpig, it's amazing!

I should mention I'm mostly interested in duncans and dimarzios since I'm not looking to spend a ton.

SD Alt8...
An 8 mag? That's way brighter than the already bright A5...for thicker and darker, I would recommend something with an A2.

+1

Also all the Motor City pups fall somewhere on the dark side. Some more than others
