The Truth about Wikipedia

I'm finding out more and more about Wikipedia. After using it for years when fact finding, I finally started a monthly contribution. As more is revealed about their political leanings it seems I'll have to stop that.

"But Wikipedia and Snopes say..."

I don’t know about that. When is the last time you recall a newspaper that wasn’t highly left biased. It was definitely the 90s or earlier.
I was referring to published books, regarding research. I'll edit my post to reflect that.
Not newspapers.
But yes, pre-90s most newspapers did not publish outright lies like they do today.

When i was a schoolaged kid- dictionary, encyclopedia, and the local public library were our research materials.
Going digital with everything opens it up to editing/changing of that information VS an actual printed page in a book that is already widely published and distributed. Just imho

This is very true. It is of the utmost importance to protect, keep, and maintain printed books and materials - we have seen the writing on the wall where this is going, they can and will alter anything they can to fit their needs.

I swear i have streamed movies and music and noticed that they had been edited.
I keep CDs and DVDs just for this reason.

Something to consider regarding written history and research...today we have the luxury, or misfortune, of seeing people in detail of all ages, color and academic levels and there is a rampant number of liars, cheats, politicians, narrative pushes and so on.

These types of people have existed since the dawn of time and with pre globalisation of media, books, newspapers, internet etc they we were insulated and hidden from the general populace. But they were active in their sphere and operated with no oversight or fact checking in the main.

We also have to consider back then that written records were generally kept in the country of origin and not available globally for scrutiny.
These records would see the light of day, if allowed, on a political level and or an agenda push.

The written word of most studies and history are tainted with agendas, lies, political push, religious influencing etc...because today's people above were exactly the same people back in the day as we haven't evolved and attained a higher level of awareness. We are today what we've always been...corruptible.

I know that much of the written history, that is studied, known and immortalised in film, of the 1800s and 1900s is one huge lie and has shaped our society as it functions today. It's one huge agenda of similarity, consistency and social engineering in order to keep global control overall. Sure, there are some hiccups in that pursuit but overall this is what it's about.

What does this all mean simply?

You can consider the above and either believe it or dismiss it, but I encourage you to always question, keeping in mind the human condition of corruptible individuals, what it is you're reading or watching and whether it's actually true or an instrument of influence to support an agenda only.

I know some people espouse this theory, it's a good theory but the one thing i don't agree with is-
"Today's people above were exactly the same people back in the day".
The people of old endured unbelievable hardships with a minimum of technological help. Had to have common sense to survive.

I fully agree with that.

What I was saying, and I could have been clearer in hindsight, is that people at their core are the same as yesteryear. Corruptible, cruel, misleading etc.

Today's people are lazy as everything is served up to them and yes, common sense was needed more so back then as you survived by your own wit and intelligence.

A rare jewel, the local Times-Union. Staunchly republican, the editorial page is especially entertaining. Makes me sad that they will bite the dust someday like so many others.

The "it was the same before" theory crumbles under the least bit of scrutiny.
