The year was 1984... Ratt at the Rock Palace

Ratt was my first concert ever! It was the "Invasion of your Privacy" tour, so around 1985. Bon Jovi was new and they were the opener.

I always thought Ratt was cooler than most other bands of the time.
Ratt is often the butt of jokes now but they were cool as shit back in the 80s. They did more of a pirate type thing. There was great play between Robbin and Warren.

Everyone knows the hits but there are some great songs that are not on the radio every 5 minutes like "Round and Round":
- You Think You're Tough
- Sweet Cheater
- I'm Insane
- You're in Trouble
- What You're Give Is What You Get
- One Good Lover
- Chain Reaction

Yep I was.....I knew you said you were at the same show....wasn't the entire stage stacked with Laney stacks??????
And I was at that exact same show in Chicago!!! And like LP Freak said Ratt was so loud it was almost incomprehensible.

Warren was absolutely rippin' in this era. You're in Trouble, Morning After and the solo trade off with Robbin on this recording is some of Warren's best ever playing IMO. Watched the VHS with this a billion times.

I was such a DeMartini fan that I took an old plastic hollowbody guitar I got as a kid and painted the Japanese Rising Sun graphic on it and Japanese letters, lol.

I dig all the '80s albums most, but Invasion was always my fave. That album was huge in my yoof.

Some of the very first riffs I learned when I started out were You're in Love and Give It All, and then a WRONG version of Lay It Down I played for years, as most people still play wrong today. That style of riffing just came naturally to me. Also Harvester or Sorrow, Master of Puppets, Leper Messiah.

Good times. So many new discoveries, and TONS of great new music was being made then to inspire me as a guitarist.

I was at that show. Good times. I only went because Ratt was opening and the Invasion record was on fire. I think the following tour they were the headliners. Dance Dance Dance? I went to that one too but I don't remember it.

But hot damn if the girls didn't go completely crazy over some of these bands.

Yes they did, and the girls dressed like complete sluts and there wasn't a PC thought to be found anywhere.... 🤩

Still remember this show and I thought this period Ratt was awesome.
Carl that was a very positive comment...:yes:Are you feeling ok today???:p:LOL:

Warren was quite impressive I must say.

Weren't him and Lynch friends??? I remember reading something about they used to loan amps to each other and I guess Warren had some nice plexi's at the time.

Now that makes three of us at the same show in 1984.........................:2thumbsup: This was actually my first rock concert I was like 14, I went with my brother and his friends.

Specifically, I believe ol' George STOLE Warren's favorite Marshall for a period of time and used it on some recordings, maybe shows, although he eventually returned it.

There was a much smaller community of important guitarists in L.A. than most people realize. Warren, Lynch, Jake E. Lee, etc, all crossed paths many times.

Well, the 70s were more my era, but in the 80s there was some very good hard rock bands, and Ratt was one of them, in my opinion anyway

From a musical standpoint, they were at the top of the glam/hair scene by far for me. But they had poor management and focus.

Yeah Warren and Jake have been buds for years. Jake was in Ratt early on and Lynch auditioned for Ozzy.

One of Ratts first gigs with Warren, he was playing a jalopy reverse strat guitar, no name cabs except those bottom cabs look like Orange. Marshall with the Furman PQ4 sitting on top of the amp.

Edit - The Marshall/PQ4 and one of the Orange cab(s) was used for Invasion. Was also loaded with EV's.

Small edit to your edit. That's a Furman PQ-3. I used one on the strip from 1985-1992 into a Lexicon PCM-41 split into stereo to 2 Marshall 2204's with 2 vintage Orange cabs, one with g12h30's and one with blackback 25's. Sounded monstrous and that PQ-3 turned a stock Marshall into an absolute fire-breather. As much gain as any modded Marshall had.
