What was the asking price?
Does guitar center take offers anymore, or is the price listed, the actual price?

Its been a long time since I’ve acquired anything at all from Guitar Center. A handful of years back, the SF store was inhabited by a motley crew of bizarre and stubborn mr. know it alls that were a true nightmare to deal with.

I mean, I had some truly off the wall experiences that left me both speechless and shocked while dealing with guitar center employees.

One dude in particular was very tasteless and crude. He used sex as his comparison to guitars and their features. this guy managed to make sex sound like a repulsive and bizarre misadventure, more closely resembling combat or battle than what it actually is.

And his appearance only added to the heinous nature of his speech. He had jet black dyed hair and the whitest skin ever, and had tats on his face that said things like, “son of satan,” and “the butcher of bel air.” He had insanely bad butt breath and seemed to revel in distributing the toxic miasma of doom towards customers. I could see the glee in his eyes when he saw the first hint of shock cross someone’s face as his mustard gas, like breath, assaulted their nostrils.

the thought of ever going back and becoming crippled by rancidity was enough to steer clear of that place. I shudder at the memory. I didn’t know people could have breath that bad. And I kid you not, he was wildly pleased when he saw people’s reaction to the noxious cloud of death consuming their personal space.

They won’t budge at any of the stores around here

I never wanted to buy any of their used stuff jsut because the pictures were so bad. It's like they use a disposable camera and try to take the most out of focus shot and at most 2 pictures, with a zoom feature designed to pixelate

I know it has to be sitting on the shelf for x amount of days for them to discount it

GC's dumbassery isn't always bad. I bought a ESP Eclipse for $500 that was listed as a LTD EC1000 at the GC by me a few years back. Lol. No complaints there.

GC were cool when they were the only place to find such a huge selection under one roof.
Once on-line places took off they couldn't keep up and went downhill fast.

Most of their profits recently have come from the used gear inventory, imo. Since that’s taken such a huge hit during Covid, I wonder how they are surviving

I had a mint condition, and I mean ‘brand new condition’ one on here for ages without any bites, Just a lot of questions and useless trade offers for junk they wanted to get rid of, as usual…

I ended up selling it on the gear page, I don’t really like the gear page, but for selling stuff, people are serious and they have money and they make deals.

I sold mine for $2750 usd, but like I say, it was absolutely brand new condition.

In my opinion, these Bogner Ecstasy Classics are way way better than anything Bogner has produced over the years. (Apart from the 100B)

Somehow there’s a rumour that they don’t have enough gain...
If you have a 101B and you keep the gain at noon or 1 o’clock, you will get the same amount by setting at around 3 o’clock on the Classic, But It will just be better quality gain, more clarity, less congestion, way less mush.
I really don’t understand people, Everyone jumps for the original JCM 800s because they have six cans for lots of filtering to give that bold feel and tone…
This is exactly what the Bogner Ecstasy Classic has…
Same filtering, same bold open attack and bark

I do understand that some people really like that mushy liquid compressed feel under their fingers which is very easy to play.

But for me, the Classic has better tone than any of the other congested Bogners, (just my opinion).

My rant is over, hope everyone’s having a fantastic Thursday!

The negative feedback, filtering, and gain are a 3dimensional puzzle to solve for sure. I like less NFB and filtering, but I also like less gain than most around here. The Classic is very cool, but I like the 101b and 20th as well. This is why I’ve gravitated to the Synergy set up because you basically have all three.

When ordering talk to someone at the store and ask if they can do anything on the price> Answer will be no but they will deduct shipping which will save you a few bucks. I had a 4x12 and head shipped for free.

How is the synergy , really, compared to the real thing? What power amp are you using?

those synergy are very interesting!

The synergy Ecstasy in the 50w head is REALLY good. I have a 20th Anniversary Ecstasy, and the Synergy is honestly better. Plus, the schizo switches give you the topology of the Classic, 20th, and the 101b. There are switches for the 100b settings inside the unit.

I cannot explain how impressed I am - and this is no honeymoon - I’ve had this for over a year.

this is at painfully low volume, both Blue and Red (running 101b blue and Classic red with the 100b setting on the red channel)

This is higher volume

I have NOS EI 12ax7’s in the module and in the other preamp spots in the head.
(I know I mistyped the tweet - it is Syn-50 for the Synergy head)
