Thinking about picking up a couple Lynchbacks for my 4104.

I've heard good things about them, and I think they would be a big upgrade from the g12-70's. Any experience with these speakers and Marshalls?

-there a greenback/V-30 hybrid, or so says CELESTION, I keep waiting for a quad to fall in my lap for peanut's,

I have them with my Jmp-Gower modded Marshall they sound great ..I previously tried Scumback J-65 Ldc,Creamback H-75s, V-30tys Marshall labeled and China

Pulled the trigger, I can't handle these G12m-70's anymore. I can't wait to get these Lynchbacks in there. Looked at some Guitars today too, but It's Sunday and not all stores are open. Don't want to make a hasty guitar purchase.

how many did you get? i'd like to get a pair to match with my 55hz weber leagacy's in my 4x12 - but they're only sold in 8 ohms...i might end up just getting some 75hz webers

I currently have a quad of them in my 4x12. As mentioned above they really do seem to be a hybrid of sorts between the V30 and Greenback. They sound fantastic with 'modern Marshall' style amps, like Friedman, Splawn, etc.

Back when I had my Friedman Runt 50, I tested it with V30s, Greenbacks, V30/Greenback mix, and Lynchbacks. Lynchbacks sounded much fuller, bigger, and punchier than the other combinations I tried.

I have a pair loaded in a Wizard 2x12 cab. Great tone. They are darker and slightly scooped than a V30.

I'm all about the hasty guitar purchases... but never on Sunday hehe

Curious on where you ordered your Lynchbacks from? I have a bogner cube with a G12 classic lead 80 in it that I was never really crazy over... I'm kind of curious about the Lynchbacks.

Ordered them from Sweetwater. I actually like the Classic lead80, if this came with a pair of those I would not be buying new speakers.
But that can depend on the amp too.

I also just got a quad of Lynchbacks for my Marshall cab. I think half the good tone comes from being 8 ohm vs. the 16 ohm! So far they sound great. Punchy, better low end, no shrill highs. Like a broken in old Greenback, I think.

-did ya buy them new? I'm with ya on 8ohm speakers sound better than 16ohm speakers, funny I first heard of this from George, wonder if that has something to do with why they only come in 8ohms

Would it still need a good break in period if it already sounds broken in?

I'm actually working part-time at my local Guitar Center as a tech, since I've been an out of work Wall Street guy for the past year and half! So, I got them for about $85 each new!

They do sound broken in, not sure if they would sound even better actually broken in. I play at lower volumes at home, so break in probably would take forever anyway!

I was wanting 8 ohm speakers ever since I heard the youtube videos comparing 8 ohm to 16 ohm speakers. The 8 ohmers sounded fuller and less shrill, even made G12T-75's sound good!

Man. I feel for ya. G12 M70s are quite possibly the worst speaker ever made. ANYTHING you put in your Marshall will kick ass. Anything.
Kudos for putting up with them as long as you have. You will have a completely different amp.
Lynchbacks will kill.

They sound great right from the box ..definatly a hybrid V/30-g25 thing going on

I got them delivered, excellent shipping, but now I discovered I actually have to get my soldering gun out to change speakers, what a buzzkill.
