Thinking of getting a Fender Telecaster

I just picked up a used Ameican special, with Texas Special pickups. KILLER GUITAR. Im sure the deluxe would be awesome too.

I prefer the pickups in the Standard over the Deluxe (I've owned both). Nothing is funner than a Tele through a cranked Marshall

For that amount of money you could build one of these, SERIOUSLY. :2thumbsup:

Just listed her on evil bay among my other production Fenders. Kinda don't have a need for her since I have my Gigliotti.

I absolutely love Telecasters. They're much less forgiving than Strats and LPs, but the tone is sweet. The neck pickup is really a thing of beauty and it gets real mean sounding when you turn it up. Kind of like a hot girl with a nasty temper. PM me if you're interested in Tele recommendations based on your wants/needs!

Ive been suprised by a bunch of tele's. Ive see alot of guys play them and have an amazing tone. One inparticular comes to mind and it was an old tele deluxe with humbuckers, he finally got his shot and the tone that where put on tape where simply amazing. It was just unfortunate that he passed last year. If you want to hear it check out John Oliva's Pain cd. Matt's tele is all over it.

I've been in this GAS mode for, oh, 3 months. It started with a straight up Fender Custom, I wanted it to be all Tele, nothing else. My GAS and research has had me look at Suhr, Warmoth, USACG, etc. I believe the TONE of the Tele is from its ashtray, wood, and electronics, and these are aspects I didn't want to stray from. After seeing a mess of Fender CS products, I figured let's look at building my own - and I'm still in that phase. The Warmoth and USACG offerings are outstanding and very personalized and customizable.

In short, yes. I suffer too Brethren. And sooner than later, a Tele will be mine.

That is one beautiful guitar – nice job man.
I’m just too big of a procrastinator to take on that project.
It would end up taking years to complete.
I need instant gratification.

Very nice though

Well, I just wanted to let you know there are better options out there than Fender.

Please enjoy what ever you decide to get.

Man I wanna build a Warmoth but I don't know jack shit about assembling and all that.... can I get the parts and pay a luthier to put it together?

+1

Although I prefer USA Custom Guitar necks over Warmoth and Fender both, it's really pretty easy to screw together a Tele!
If there's a "have to have" Fender body you like, check out the ebay store Reliable Fender Parts or Strat o Sphere, this guy is a Fender dealer who disassembles new Fenders and sells the parts. I made a Tele this way using a Fender Roadworn body, USA Custom Guitars neck, and a Warmoth bridge!!

IMO - outside of the Custom Shop, not a big fan of current Fender toolpathing or woods. Too much corner-cutting, no pun intended.

Definitely. I'm sure there are people in your town who work on guitars, all they have to do is assemble and set it up.

Also, http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php is a great source to use. You have a question about putting it together, it'll get answered there. I'm on it daily.

thanks man, I'll joing that forum because I wanna build a cool looking tele that looks unique and doesn't cost an arm :)

Take a look in the Finished Guitar forums at the bottom of the main page, plenty of nice guitars there. Plenty of inspiration to be seen.

I finished and put a superstrat together. Really easy to do. Then I took it to a luthier for a final fret level. Basically, I budgeted fret work into the cost of the project. I love that guitar...
