Have a be100. Think I'm gonna grab a ds. Does it feel looser than the be. I want something that sound and feels a lil more vintage for some bluesy jtm 45 type tones. Clips sound great but can annoy tell me how this amp feels? I have a marshall vintage modern few years ago and loved that amp for bluesy tones so I guess that would be the closest to a jtm 45 I've played.

Yes it's more vintage sounding with a bigger sag to it. Very fat sounding.

I must own a DS in 2015;)!!! I've got the SS100 and love it but I Need a DS for local gigging! Just love all the clips I've heard of the DS as well! That said I'm looking forward to hearing more of the Phil X as well!!

Well I took the dive and picked up a dirty Shirley combo this after noon and all I can say is holy shit. This amp freaking rocks. Simple one channel plexi tones and beyond. All you need is the guitar volume knob to clean right up even with it cranking gain. Great great amp Dave!!

I finally got to try some Friedman's today and as much as the BE100 impressed me the DS was more my kind of amp. Doesn't get as swampy as a JTM45 can (hoped it would with high bass settings) but it definitely had a softer attack once the drive was up a bit compared to the BE100. It just seemed to have a spot on gain sweep for how I like to play. As much as the BE100 was exceptional I did find I wouldn't want an amp to always be so tight and precise in all it's gain ranges. I like a good gain amp but really dig those squishier rhythm tones from early 70's bands like The Faces etc and the DS could do that on certain settings. BUt if you wanted a late 70's/early80's tight down pick you could get that too. The DS reminded me more of a JMP50 that gets very sweet and singing as you add the extra gain on tap. This was the 1x12 combo and it really was a killer plug and play rock amp.

I've read some people say the BE100 can't do metal well without a boost and I'd like to know which one they played because with the c45 and Sat switches in it was super heavy. I wish I was Mr Money bags so I could have a BE100 (in leopard print please) and a DS.

I agree the DS def gets some more vintage classic rock tones and bluesy tones compared to the be100. I also think it's a little more aggressive but with less gain if that makes sense. Maybe a little more kerannnng to it. I am loving it. I think it's the perfect amp to have along side the be100 Bc they feel different. I couldn't justify a smallbox or cantrell because I think they'd be too similar. Be100 can 100% do metal. Sat switch engaged get pretty heavy. Hit it with a koko boost even heavier. If you want throw an eq in the loop and I'm sure you could get close to the jj tones.
