Thinking of picking up a Decibel 11 Pedal Palette

Anyone use one?

I'd quite like to have a smaller footswitch for my new Diezel D-Moll. I'd also like to be able to switch more than one effect at once, as well as my amp channel. I'd also like to be able to remove the pedals from the signal chain when not in use. So it seems like it would do the job.

But I'm not 100% convinced by having to press two switches to switch between direct mode and preset mode.

I guess this applies to a wide range of these types of products, but I'm also not sure whether I would get on with just bank numbers and ABCD numbering as opposed to fully namable patches on a display. How do people find remembering this kind of stuff in a live situation - do you use a bank per song, or do you have a set of banks with your most common sounds? I don't want to do a lot of banking around, but I do have a lot of permutations to consider, especially if I'm going to be switching my amp channel at the same time as the effects.

I don't think the Pedal Palette does channel switching. It looks like it only has for send/returns,input, output, and a tuner out. I haven't heard/read to much about them other then a review in a magazine. Decibel 11 did release the Switch Dr not to long ago which has 4 loops and 3 amp channel controls.

It also might be worth checking out either a DPC-8EZ or a DPC-5 from disaster area amps. The DPC-5 has fewer loops but does have a TRS for channel switching. The DPC-8EZ doesn't do channel switching but if you look on disaster area amp's facebook page they are releasing a product called smart switch. It like a regular footswitch but receives midi messages from a number of there products including the DPC-8EZ. Basically you can recall a preset and it change the channel if you want it to. They are coming out with 2,4, and 6 button versions in early March. I like that idea rather then having to change channels with the actual switcher. It's nice to have the option with one click of a button.

It does channel switching via midi, so as long as your amp supports midi, it should work fine. Still... not 100% convinced I want to go that route.

EC Custom Shop Super Switcher took care of all of my needs in that regard...worth checking out. The Carl Martin Octa-switch is a cool unit as well. Both of them will change external functions like amp channels...the EC has 5 external switching functions, and the CM has 2.
