I currently have three Alder body (super strat type) Suhr's. I've always been an "Alder" wood guy for my guitars. A lot of top players choose Mahogany and sound great...what differences should I expect with this guitar should I get a wild hair and buy it?? I've always heard Mahogany is more "mid-rangy" which really isn't to my liking. Is that pretty much what Mahogany brings to the table is more mids??

What say you??

I honestly haven't seen a Floyd Rose equipped guitar outside of RT for years.
Strange phenomenon it is....

I can see why it's haunting you. That's one beautiful guitar.

You gotta leave the fender.com website every now and then. Floyd's have been hugely popular for the last 7-8 years.

I love mahogany bodied guitars. I'm terrible at describing eq characters like mids..so ill state that I think hog bodies sound thick & full. Notes don't "cut" as sharply as a swamp ash but it does add a resonanance & warmth to notes. I think alder is somewhere in between.

If you require a little more cut with a hog body a maple neck may brighten the upper registers a little.

Hope it helps!

7 or 8 years? Are you kidding me? They were huge in the 80's when I used to use them.

No need to get butthurt, I like most players, hate them.

But the guitar in question Suhr is nice. ;)

My modern that has an Alder body also has a quilted maple top, quatersewn maple neck and indian rosewood fretboard, so it has some extra spank. I feel like it has a bit more brightness than the mahogany bodied moderns I have. My number one for band use is currently a mahogany body, maple top, with a vulcanized maple neck and ebony fretboard. Gets the "right" balance for me. The only downside is it is a bit heavier than some of the others, but not overly so.

At home I have been playing the alder body, quilted maple top quite a bit. If you like the alder's tones, the mahogany will get you a bit deeper/darker sound. I usually end up using less bass with the mahogany bodies than with the alder. Plugging into the same amp/cab and switching between guitars you will notice an increase in spank with the alder body.

Hope this helps...looks like a nice guitar. Do you have standards or moderns Bryan?

3500 dollars for a flat top bolt neck. was it magically handcrafted by jesus h. christ using the wood from his infamous cross? and why is it "roasted"? does that bring out the rich nutty flavor of the mahogany?

I have both alder and Koa (supposed to be mahogany like) Moderns. The Koa (which also has te Pau Ferro neck/fingerboard) is warmer and sounds better to me.

Two Standard (S2) Pro Series and one Classic HSS. I Just noticed the radius on the above guitar...might be too flat for my tastes. I prefer 10-14. I'll keep looking but probably need a mahogany/Koa Suhr at some point...just for different feel and tones.

There is no "H" in Jesus' name. Please use a capital letter when you type it and don't use his name in vain! Thanks!

Not my Style ( Srat-style guitars look stupid on me) but all i can say is WOW.Stunning
