I guess you haven't checked out the gig clip I posted in the Videos & Music Clips Collective then?

  just kidding!

No sense of touch, timing, or tone...I feel sorry for his students

I can't say anything regarding timing. If I don't have something keeping time for me, I am all over the map. I call it playing with feeling.

He has to be playing thru some sort of multi effect stomp box.
When I played the JSX it actually sounded pretty good.
This clips tone just sounded blah.

That was the most important aspect he IS missing, "where is the music" i kept saying as i watched all of 15 seconds of it.

Come on Brad - you couldn't have missed the point all together any better. I'd expect a better response from Mr. KG!

You guys are :lame:

His tone has nothing to do with the exercise. You try and play 100 snip-clips without any liner notes and under. 8 minutes.

I'll give him a compliment and then follow with criticism. At least he can play all of those licks and make them recognizable. I don't really think timing was a focus as much as showing that he can play them all within a limited timeframe. With that said, his picking hand made me incredibly nervous. It appeared he was using three fingers and predominately downstrokes, something I was guilty of when I first started playing electric 6 years ago. Terrible technique with terribly thin tone to match.

Don't mistake sloppiness for feel...they ain't the same thing ;)

That vid was a waste of time and not something I'd post if I were an instructor.

He should rename the video and call it " How to make 100 classic rocks riffs all sound like shit"

Thank the Lord and all mighty God for your insight. Now get back to the griddle and flip those burgers - boy! It will at least help to improve on your strumming technique.
