Agreed, it's stupid. Governments mandate some noise when the vehicle is moving slow, but it doesn't have to be fake engine noise.

BMW calls it "Active Sound Design"... all the M models (M2, M3, M4, M5) pump the fake engine sound thru the speakers.

I prefer to get my V8 engine sounds the old fashioned way...

Good luck with your new ride. I am leery of any Silverado made after '06, lol. I saw many of the 5.3, 5.7, and 6.0 motors go 300-400k miles as a matter of routine when the owner kept clean oil in it. A friend of mine was a Chevy mechanic and didn't have positive reports about the trucks after that and he owned an '09. Another friend bought a 2024 2500 diesel for towing and has had it in at least a half dozen times for major repairs. Toyotas are nice but the frames ain't built for hauling and the seats are abysmal.....

Thanks man. Basically I'm sold on EVs. I've been driving them since 2017 and have had virtually no repairs. The Silverado is the 4th one we own now, and having an electric work truck is amazing. That thing can tow our dump trailer fully loaded and you don't even feel it. And much cheaper to run. Plus I have a 200kwh battery to use on job sites or back up the house, with 120 and 240v outlets. I could run a whole concert off my truck

I pick my car up from my buddy's later this morning after I get back from picking my roofing supplies up. It got new cams, timing chain tensioners, cam phasers, left side exhaust and 02 sensors and 2 new valves on the #5 cylinder. I'm told it runs like a scalded dog.

The roofing I'm picking up with my 16' trailer pulled by my 2005 Dodge Ram 5.7 hemi.

65 bundles of shingles, 16 4x8 sheets of 3/4" plywood, 16 20' 2x6s, 1 roll of ice shield, a few rolls of 30lb felt, some low profile roof vents, 2 boxes of 1 1/2 coil nails, 1 box of collated 16s, 1 box of collated #8s, 3 tubes of tar/roofing sealer, plywood and framing blades for my circular saws and a few other odds and ends. I'm sure the old girl will pull it just fine. I've decided that instead of being pissed about the 5 grand it's costing me I'm going to be happy about the 20 grand it's saving me knowing how to do it myself. Now we just wait and see if it kills me.
