There is no hope. My Nephew told me that this is what everyone between the ages of 14-19 listens to.

Yeah, some pretty standard Skrillex-type dubstep

Your dad, who liked Johnny Mathis, thought you were crazy too when you were listening to your devilish rock or metal as a teen

The day when you think "kids are crazy", that's when you're old

I have 4 teens.....and they listen to Screamo?? Is that even a name?
Well my Son (19) listens to hard rock and 80's pop.
The daughters......Screamo....
To me it sounds like old Death Metal stuff. ;)
Just played them that clip you posted. They started laughing. But they knew who it was.
Then they told me I was old.... :(

:hys:

my oldest son is a teenager (19) and he went to this on Sunday in the 100 degree Dallas heat.

http://rockstarmayhemfest.com/bands

he got Bodom's autographs and Amon Amarth

He is into viking metal and death metal. Some of this stuff is really cool and has some cool guitar but I'm an old dude (49) that just can't get past cookie monster vocals

My youngest son is a teen (17) and he don't do metal....go figure. His dad is an 80's metal guy, his brother is into old metal and new metal and he likes more hip hoppy pop stuff :)

I concur...thats pretty standard electronic dance music you hear nowadays man. If you step into a dance club chances are youll hear this. Electronic dance music has been around forever and the trends during the last decade have been minor actually.

I dont really hear any difference to this than when Drum and Bass was popular although I much prefer the 80-120 bpm type dance music

My daughter likes Alice in Chains, more the Dirt era. She went to Bon Jovi with the wife and I. She wanted to go to Metallica with us but could not swing it.

I hate rap and can't listen to Cookie Monster vocals for any longer than it takes to press Stop.

Good! They can pay hundreds of dollars a ticket to go see those fucking assholes while I pay $35 a pop to see Kotzen and EJ and listen to musicians play actual instruments.  Seriously though, Rock and Roll will never die no matter how hard "they" try to kill it. If it could be killed, it would have died a long time ago.

Talk about repetitive... I've heard way better electronic/dance than that tune. I like to think I have a fairly wide taste in music and styles but this just doesn't cut it. :bleh:

Maybe you have to be in the right "atmosphere" for this to have its full effect (i.e. ffwd 30-some seconds in and watch :D ):

People with poor taste will always listen to garbage. Disco made millions afterall...

I'm 18 and I post on this forum... I obviously don't fit the mold haha. Been on a huge AiC and RUSH kick lately.

I believe they used a 59 RI Les Paul w/ Boutique pickups, a Marshall flavored head, a Greenback/V30 X pattern cab wired at 16ohms to achieve those great guitar tones?

I hope its not a Kemper or an Axe. :aww:

What do you think?

Excellent! There is hope for the future!

Why do older people care, music changes. If it didn't we'd still be listening to Elvis and learning how to waltz.
