I know there are a lot of pro players using them now, I wonder if they are complaining... Rick might want to know about it?

How many wizard users here actually play out live? I had the best luck when it was really cranked and I pulled the loop volume down but still the mids weren't where I was comfortable. Also if your a singer it felt like there was no frequency hole for the vocals to fit or perhaps my vocal style. But like I said it recorded really well. And I love the Darkness and AC/DC live tone.

Of course mids are a personal thing. You either bond with it, or you don't. Personally, I LOVE the mids on my MTL. Ive been using a V30 loaded cab so I haven't felt anything lacking in the mids department. Im going to try some creambacks soon. The MTL also has a "shift" option, which changes the tone stack. Seems to shift the mids lower, similar to a Bogner. I also find the eq on the Wizard to be extremely responsive. There is a ton of range on tap. So if youre experiencing monstrous highs and lows, it is easily adjustable.
I also think the model name MTL is misleading. Im not a metal player, and I get Awesome classic rock tones form this amp. I keep the gains lower than 12 oclock, and low on the saturation knob. I get full crystal clear overdrive. Like mentioned above, the string clarity is insane.
Its a spendy amp for sure, and I was nervous about buying it, having never even heard one in person...but I freakin love it! It has simply crushed all amp gas. My next move is a Wizard cab!
Thanks, this is helpful! I will be ordering a Wizard cab shortly. I have a pair of M65s for the top. Deciding on either H75s or V30s for the bottom.mhenson42":3g778xk2 said:flimz":3g778xk2 said:I recently acquired a 2016 MTL. I was instantly floored by the huge tone the Wizard puts out. Creambacks work well with the Wizards. I think a mix of the 65s/75s would be great. I did some speaker swaping this weekend. I ended up with Alnico Cream/Creamback H75 in one wizard cab and Scumback J75s/v30s in my other wizard cab. I also pulled the greenbacks/v30s out of my Friedman cab and loaded it with Scumback M75s/H75s. All three of these cabs sound incredible with my Wizards and my BE-100. I tried all Alnico Creams in the cab at first, but it was a little too smooth for my tastes - so I mixed in the Creamback H75s and it was perfect for me. I loaded my Splawn cab with all v30s and I have an all v30 Bogner cab - both sound great with the Wizards, but definitely not my preference.

I can only second that. I lovey MC2.
As I also think about adding a MTL, what's your opinion? What's the differences and are they different enough to have both?

MTL is absolutely different enough to justify having both. I'm torn on which is my favorite but I'm leaning towards the MTL. The saturation and depth controls just unlock a whole new myriad of available tones. It can get relatively low gain if you want it to.
My Wizards are both the latest versions and the masters are great. Not as good as my Friedmans. Can't get as whisper quiet, but it's very manageable for home use. Wizards really aren't designed for lower volume, they are meant to be cranked. But I rarely do.
The loops on mine are nearly transparent. The send/ return levels are crucial to get it to sound that way. I turn send all the way up and adjust the return level until I can't hear a volume difference between loop on or off. An older MC ii I had changed tone drastically when the loop was engaged. It had a capacitor in the loop circuit that Rick told me to cut out. I snipped the capacitor leg and the loop became totally transparent. So those who say the loop isn't transparent may have this capacitor in place.
Right now, I have the mids almost maxed on my MTL and it gets that punchy grind that is "Marshall-like." The MTL is just voiced with a sort of scooped tone but cranking the mids totally solves any lack of perceived midrange. I use it with two 4x12's side-by-side. One is all an all-v30 cab and the other v30/ GB mix. I'm putting together a wet/dry/wet setup with three 4x12's. Can't imagine how huge it's going to sound.
