hey guys i dont see the black star stuf talked about alot but it has an incredible amount of features that i like. especially the fact that you can do the power scaling on these to play in apartments and larger venues. How would something like this stand up to some of the board favorites like 5150 and recto's etc.

Great amps. Played a Ht 5 watt. Loved it. Almost enough volume to gig with. If i wasn't unemployed i would buy one :(

I had a Series one 100w with EL34's. Overall a great amp with Marshall based tones. It's capable of many tones from classic to modern and has a great loop. I think it's everything the JVM wishes it could be.

sweet...i love the 5150 and all of its variations but i think thats the 50 w version is more versatility and i can get down to 5 watt for jamming at home... i still want the 200 watt!!!

I work at a Sam Ash and we just got a bunch of the Series One heads into our store. The 50, 100, 200 and 100 6L6.

The El34 vs 6L6 sounded almost exactly like I expected it too. I don't know if there's anything else physically different with the wiring, but it basically sounds like a Series One... with 6L6s. Its like what the ISF tries to do towards the US/Cali side, but for real. My only real complaint is the ISF on the 6L6 model seems sort of pointless. It just doesn't sound right anywhere but in the middle to me.

On the EL34 ones the US side seems to simulate that Cali/Mesa sound (which would prob have 6L6s) and the UK side is a little more raw "classic" marshall. But on the 6L6 version the US side seems redundant and boomy, and the UK side doesn't make sense tonally, so I'm not sure what the sound its going for is, but I don't like it. But leaving the ISF somewhere in the middle its a great 6L6 based amp. And its a more modern/US sound than the ISF in the EL34 version can actually pull off. Only without any of the harsh and/or flubby stuff I hate about Mesa Rectos.

i'm curious about the 50 and 100watters, i tried a 200watter through an artisan v30 box but just didn't gel with it, 4 channels with different modes, the first two channels were really nice, but i didn't really get into the higher gain modes

the 200watter is stupidly heavy, transformers all on one side so it's a bitch to carry, might want to try the ht100 just for comparison's sake, heard good things about those heads

offtopic i love the ht5 , one of my favourite lunchbox heads for at home
