Just curious. Not really looking for advice on it or anything like that. I know HCAF generally hates the shit out of the V3. I wanted one for a long time, until I read the forums. Got to play one in July at Carvin in San Diego, and fuck the haters. Its my favorite amp that Ive played, so far....by a LONG SHOT!! Big, heavy, deep, smooth, nice low end, tamed midrange, balanced his, and plenty of presence. I LOVE it...I posted on CL about trading my 5150 212 for a V3 212, but Im not actively looking to make a trade, just kinda posting and if it happens, it happens. So yeah...just curious about what every one thinks about them. Heres a video I made in SD...

not a good demo without stairway or sandman. i would rock one. did you happen to play the legacy 3?

I did, and it was pretty awesome. Pretty dark, generally, but you can dial in bite at the upper range of the treble and presence settings. Easily one of the most versatile amps Ive played. Also played a V3m, which was not so great, but I didnt spend a lot of time on it either.

Also, dunno why people say the V3 is hard to dial in...yeah, its got a lot of controls and options, but if you know what youre doing, its not hard. I spent a total of 10 minutes playing that amp, and had a tone dialed in that I like better than any other tone Ive had...AND, that was using Carvin pickups, which people constantly bitch about as well. I love Carvin...have for a while, but I might be a fanboi now haha.

i had one a couple years ago. i thought it was ok but then i again i really didn't know how to dial in amps i'm tempted to give it another shot. the amp to me felt cold and serile. i think they came from carvin biased cold so i should've tried different tubes and rebiased it properly. but as far as features go it's one the coolest.

Yeah, they go for great prices, but I dont have money to drop on an amp right now, otherwise...yeah, I woulda bought that one on ebay. I also dont have a cab. Just running with my 5150 212 combo.

I owned 2 when they first came out. Easily, my most-hated amp of all time.

If you have an interface for your comp or anything to jam on, sell every scrap piece of gear tou have and get one if thats the tone you want. From what i could tell fro
The clip it sounds like a broots kinda amp.

I played one and I liked it. I really didn't think I would. But it was not bad at all. Ugly amps I think but if you don't care about that great for a great price

What was wrong with the V3M? I've been considering one for a rack mount.

I had a v3 with matching g12t75 cab, I fought with the amp unti I got a v30 cab, then I liked the way it sounded.

Here is a really good video of this amp..... Best $600 amp I have heard to date!

^ Best Carvin V3 video I have seen. Most V3 videos don't make me want to even try the amp.

All Ive got left is my 5150 212, and thats not gonna get me enough to get a head and a 212.

I tried one, and then the MTS3200 back to back, and I actually liked the MTS3200 much more. I actually ended up buying one used since they sell for almost nothing now that they are discontinued. They don't have the big low end of the V3, but they do an agressive high gain much better IMO.

I owned an MTS for about a year. It was cool, but I like the V3 MASSIVELY better.
