I have been Comparing my Les Pauls trying to figure out which one to sell potentially.

My LP standard has Gibson Burstbucker pro1 (neck) and pro2 (bridge). What is the general opinion of these pickups?

I have been wanting to try some Suhr Aldrich pickups. I am just not sure I am totally happy with the burstbuckers....

I like them much better than the Classic 57 and 498T for sure. The only complaint I have is that they can get a tad bright and raspy if given too much gain. But they are my fave Gibson pup nonetheless. I haven't tried the Burstbucker 2 or 3 though.

A good friend has a LP with them, they seem a tad harsh with a lot of gain, did not expect that. The aldrich pups are much hotter, and yet smoother. Real balanced output. Good pups! His had a pro 1 in the bridge, not sure about pro 2's

I notice that the high end can get a bit harsh. Seems like that is normal.

I like the Burstbucker pro 2 better than the 498T that was in my Studio. The 498T was a little thin for my tastes. I do prefer the 490R in the neck to the Burstbucker pro1. The 490R seems a little more buttery and warm for lack of a better word.
