Just found out about these amps not too long ago, currently been using my Mesa Tverb converted to head with 1960a w/2 stock celestions & 2 wgs retro 30's x-pattern, korean epi lp custom with jb bridge/jazz neck & charvel model 5fx, org. FR, emg-85 bridge sa-neck both tuned to drop b for my band.

I play other styles as well and have been looking for something that can get a really good sound at low volumes/gigging levels and have a good clean and could go from plexi-type sounds Zeppelin, etc. to 80's hair metal/metallica etc to modern metal. The Tverb is super loud and hard to keep at a reasonable volume, of course we can turn up for practice but for shows is a different story. A long while back I played thru my buddy Lord Toneking's splawn QR and have had serious splawn gas, nitro came out started gassing for that too but kept reasearching the QR then I stumbled upon a video on youtube of a BFG modded Ceriatone Chupacabra & unmodded Chupacabra and it seemed like it nailed a lot of those sounds at a better price point vs the splawns. What do you guys think?

Um, it's awesome. Seriously, I love my Splawn amps but the Chupacabra 50 is a whole other beastie. Single-channel so you'll have to have a volume pedal or be in good control of your guitar's volume pot to get into clean territory with the amp set to burn. The 80's and 90's modes are great for lower-volume playing. For stage I usually use Plexi mode as it gets plenty loud and cleans up the best of the three modes. I also usually keep the focus control engaged. This is one amp you won't regret buying unless you REALLY need a channel switcher.
